There is no telling how famous James Ramey would have become, but these tracks are absolutely amazing. For anyone who enjoys soul and funk this album fuses the two so well. Its a shame he wasn't able to make anymore tracks.

I am so happy to see this album. Saw Baby Huey at Snoopy's in Madison, 40 years later I have vivid memories (pretty good considering what was available at the time). WHAT A SHOW!

I did some research- Huey died during the recording, and Curtis Mayfield went back and fleshed stuff out to make enough for an album. The band sounds almost like his band, and I am not suprised.. But, whomever the band is (frankly, it is not all The Babysitters)- they should have gotten top bill, with Huey as a guest. There are some hot funk jams where he doesn't even make an appearance.. So, yes this is some fine music, but as a vehicle for a singer, it's very thin. Even though this is trying to preserve the memory of a great singer, it's not all about the singing here definitely..

Weighing in at over 300 bills , the only way to describe the funk of Baby Huey is POWER! Even the nearly ten minute long ballad goes by quick, and is subtely and overtly hilarious. Not only is the frontman huge, the band behind him is gargantuan. Delivering a blistering wall of pure energy from start to finish. "...at Walgreen's eatin' them turkey dinners with them dressin'..." Stupendous !
