These are not the original studio tracks & there is reasoning for that! In the 80’s, bands didn’t get the rights to their albums when signing record deals. When this album was being worked on in the early 2000’s, those bands still had not gotten the rights to their own album so these tracks were re recorded or taken from live tracks! Some bands also were either not together at the time or just didn’t want to be involved so others recorded the songs! Best song on here is Dio doing Dream On! Ignore the hate/fake reviews! GNR is not on this one but still fakers bring them up!

Please, for the love of God, please stop calling it Hair Metal. The term has nothing to do with the music whatsoever. (Yes, I know it's meant to lump the bands together that teased up thier hair for their video's. but again - the term has nothing to do with music.) And say no to these compilation albums with re-recorded music! Buy the original songs on the original recordings. And if they aren't available here, go elsewhere!

I find this type of music shallow and only good for like 5 playthroughs, if it's good. Glam rock and hair metal.... bleh. Corny and annoying One major complaint though, why is the album art written in Iron Maiden's font? It's disgraceful to the band.

While some of the bigger names one would expect were missing from this cd, I found it refreashing to see some of the lesser known bands on it. Many of these bands didn't get a fair shake when they hit and it's a shame they had just as much talent. If your looking for a "whos who in hair bands" this isn't the cd for you. But, If your looking for a cd that show cases some lesser known, yet just as talented bands. This is for you. While not at a 5 star level it's close. 4 outta 5 stars.

Apparently, it was too expensive to purchase the rights (licenses)to the original recordings , so they hired the bands(or someone, in some cases)to re-record it(notice, the tracks are from rock hasbeens).Guess they really needed$$$.I hate cover compilations like this
  • this is not a very good compilation

I am a DIEHARD 80's hair fan and this really falls short in my expectations of a good hair band cd where is Motley Crue , Skid Row, Guns -n- Roses I don't get it when I think hair band I almost always think of Skid Row(right after Poison) so I am a little disappointed I'm not buying this and I won't tell others not to but i am almost certain there are better compilations if you're pretty young and just getting into hair bands (first of all I'm sorry LOL) I wouls suggest Skid Row (only the first 2 albums) and ANY Motley Crue and to overlook Guns-n- Roses is just sad i'm disappointed
