In fairness to Phish, Prince was still alive at the time of this recording, and therefore would have had the opportunity to react to this horrible rendition of his work. Otherwise, this is just an absolutely disgusting mockery of an iconic anthem. Categorically, unworthy of your money. I’m not even a Prince fan but this rendition makes me disappointed in Phish as a band, as musicians, and as people. This should never have been performed, and certainly not recorded or sold. People who buy this track have set exceptionally low bars for themselves and those around them. Be better, and avoid this trash.
