Really good live album, sometimes I forget it's live.

Saw these guys on this tour in June in Ft Lauderdale at the Fireman's Hall. The show was so hot they had to take a break and let the whole crowd outside mid-show before they could continue. Anyway, this recording is highly recommended if you're a fan of the Loose Nut disk. The material is mainly drawn from that disk, with a few older tunes mixed in. I think for a broader mix of different era's of the band then I would suggest Live '84 instead. The sound quality of this disk is good. The rhythm section of Kira and Anthony Martinez is outstanding on this recording. Highly recommended for fans of the later version of the band.

I bought this a few years ago when I first started getting into Black Flag, and it's still one of my favorite live albums. Sure, it isn't the same as the earlier "Damaged"-era ferocity, but it devours most bands out there today, and this was back in '85. I also have to correct the reviewer: Kira wasn't doing the back-up vocals, but rather perennial Black Flag hanger-on Tom Troccoli.

This album is one of the best Black Flag collections out there. I remember listening to this on a cassette tape and wearing the tape out! If you skate, slam dance or just like to listen to music that will get you pumped, try this album out. Thank you iTunes for helping me recall those carefree days of youth.
  • Best Drummer Black Flag Ever Had

The Review up top says Tony Martinez does his job well, have you heard the studio versions of any of those songs? Anthony completely recreates these songs and turns on a level of drumming rarely heard of in any Black Flag Studio album.

OK, Apple, you really need to think about "Who's got the 10 1/2?" for your advertising slogan for the new OSX! Are you listening Steve? This is good stuff. I'm sure Rollins would be way up for doing the commercials. I have fond memories of getting to a Black Flag show early and Kira escorting me and my friend Josh out of the hall (This was at a little VFW hall in Albany, NY on the Loose Nut tour) We still got to see the whole sound check. It ripped. This has some of that... but things had gotten a little too sludgey by this "In My Head"--last days of the band--period.
  • slamming drums - flag at their musical best

killer drums that highlight the guitar riffing & kira obviously enjoys playing with a martinez. awesome live sound for 1985. some may like the songs of other eras better, but flag was never tighter and more focused. guitar sound is clean and the leads are torturously delightful. a no joke masterpiece. believably dark music.
  • Don't get this one if you like Bill Stevenson...

I've been a big fan of Bill Stevenson for a long time, and this album was recorded after Greg Ginn edged out Bill because Ginn didn't like his drumming. Anthony Martinez takes over for Stevenson, and, well, I just don't like his style of drumming. The last song, Louie Louie is OK, though.
