This is an excellent collection of serious works that needs to be heard. I appreciate both the technique and melodic interpretation.

this album is fantastic. whoever said that about tuba concertos being stupid has obviously never tried to play one of these. the technicallites and musical emphasis is fantastic!

This is a great album. Whoever the person that said "Who would write a TUBA CONCERTO?!?!?!" is ridiculous. The tuba is a beautiful instrument and deserves better than the people who would write stuff like that....
  • Decent, but you should hear Baadsvik

Gourlay does an excellent job and is probably an amazing soloist, but if you want to hear undoubtedly the best tuba player in the world today, listen to Oystein Baadsvik, it is almost unreal, I honestly think that playing the tuba is more natural than breathing for him, simply amazing

Cool idea to put all concertos on 1 CD for that price. But, messy playing. Hearing the samples below was enough for me not want to purchase it.
  • nice tuba tunes!

Very fine playing! A must have for every tuba player and audiophile interested in some true gems of the not- so - frequently played classical repoire!
