Step Into Light

This was a great surprise when it came out. I really didn’t think I’d hear another Fastball album. The guys were all doing other things and not surprisingly making great music on their own - look for some of this solo stuff because it’s really, really good. But back to Step Into Light. The band is back. This is a great album. Maybe their best! Catchy and strong all the way through. Every single song. Try it you’ll like it!!

It's feels a few songs light to me, at a few over 30 minutes and I say that also because they have to have songs in the bank (old notebooks) that are better than they think. Three more songs may have even accidentally blown us away or at least allowed me to get lost in it. I needed a longer song or two and they are capable of jamming one out! I like the continued varying styles and influences. Still writing great songs!

Been looking forward to the release of this album since the Pledge effort and man was I rewarded. I have listened to this album over and over again and it just does not get old. Saw them in concert in July of 2017 it was a great show. Miles and Tony have such great chemistry, and Joey is explosive and steady on drums. I just hope we do not have to wait another 5 years for a new album.

Glad to have another strong entry in the Fastball catalog. From Tanzania to Love Comes in Waves, there is nary a misstep here.

After a lengthy hiaitus, Fastball are back with another collection of finely crafted pop rock songs. Miles Zuniga and Tony Scalzo balance each other nicely ala Lennon/McCartney and each brings a distinctive style to the band. Interestingly nearly all the songs are under three minutes long, but nothing feels short-changed, no songs over stay their welcome and none are filler. Opener, "We're On Our Way" kicks things off with a gritty and tuneful rocker that serves as a great introduction to Fastball in 2017. Other noteable songs are the single, "I Will Never Let You Down," "Love Comes In Waves' and what needs to be their next single, "Just Another Dream." A pleasant surprise is their hook-filled instrumental, "Tanzania." The back end of the album features two quirky but irresistable songs, "Lilian Gish" and "Frency and the Punk." This is a very solid album filled with very tuneful songs performed by a trio of talented musicians. Hope it's not such a long wait until their next one.

Step into the light, see the way. Fastball has always been here and they're here to stay!

The fruits of a very successful Pledge Music campaign! It's been such a long, painful wait since Little White Lies (with the single Love Comes in Waves released in between and appearing here, as well as Tony and Miles's incredible solo albums), and Fastball is still as charming as ever. Simply wonderful, nourishing music.
