Right Mitch and the Coal Miners have crafted an exquisite debut release. Their sound is unique, with song writing that is evocative and inviting. Vocals are gritty, almost haunting, leaving the listener wanting more. These are songs that you will want to listen to over and over. A five piece ensemble in full flight, led by Mitch Cutts' lead vocals, their sound is fusion folk, indie...even lilts of blues and southern rock. Dominated by complex piano and guitar riffs, their songs are stories that invite listeners into a place of calm and tranquility. Vocals and instrumental blends beautifully, and before you know it, you're singing along. By the way, these are kids, a band of 17 and 18 year old brothers who have lit on a sound that belies their age. Listen to the lyrics, which tell stories ordinarily reserved for older people whose life lessons are anchored in far more time and experience. Right Mitch and the Coal Miners have managed to debut a set of songs that virtually assure a following. Easy on the ear, accessible, at once simple and complex music that every age and every generation will want to hear. A helluva debut.
