I was fortunate enough to see this band live 11 times before they called it quits. Still one of my favorites of all time. I like the new stuff Dean is doing with Britta but his career without Sean Eden playing guitar is like Lou Reed's career without Sterling Morrison. Dean is still great but I miss the guitar work of Sean. Anyone who likes any music by Luna must get this live recording. I wish I could have live recordings of all of the shows I attended but I guess this is as good as it gets.

This album made me appreciate music all over again. The live version of Tiger Lily gives me chills. Love it!!! The best live album ever recorded in my opinion. It kinda makes me sad listening to it though because such an awesome band is no more.

I heard this record before I saw them live and the sound was nearly identical-that is, beautifuly perfect. Just like the liner notes said, I felt like I was floating to the rafters as I heard and felt the warm incandescence of Dean' matchless amp. Yet i knew something was on fire, and it was me. Their sound is best captured live, like fireflies. Close your eyes and you're there with me. Now he plays Serge to Britta's Jane but..this..this was purely honest.

How did this escape me? I've heard lot's of music along the way and make an effort to keep my ears open. How did this escape me? What a joy. Great sound. High energy. Guitar rocks. Super listenable. I've spent $30 tonight buying music from this band. I hate the iTune Genius :-)
  • A testament to a great band

If you were lucky enough to see Luna live before the group disbanded, allow this to be a reminder of great times. If you are less fortunate, than this can stand as a record of an amazing band at their prime. Think Yo La Tengo with more pop sensibilities.

luna was such an underappreciated band. this album does justice to their great live performances. the live rendition of '23 minutes in brussels' is worth the entire album price.

Sadly, Luna was one of them...The guitar sound from this band really is unique, and mixed with Dean's voice is really something special. Luna jammed with the best of 'em (Hello Little One, Anesthesia, Tiger Lily)--23 Minutes is a great song to get baked to!) They all are, actually ;-) ! Other standouts--Their take on Season of the Witch and Waiting on a Friend. Actually, Romantica is another great CD come to think of it! Goodbye Luna. You will be missed!

If you had to pick one Luna album to own, this might be it. The recording highlights two live shows into one continuous stream. Luna is not a band to play their recorded material verbatim. They strip it down and let it go. Pay attention to Sideshow, 4th of July (a Galaxie song,) and Bonnie and Clyde. They reinterpret their own music and present the reinvention to the listener. They show that they are not always low-key. In fact, a few tracts they cut loose. Some call it shoe gazer or soft core, whatever genre’ you throw at it is up to you. They show their ability to play sophisticated music in a manner which avoids arrogance. Sean and Dean could be guitar heroes in most any other band as leads. They play well as individuals and play well off of one another. I have owned this album for many years, and it remains on heavy rotation. I saw Galaxie 500 in the early 90’s and Luna three times. While they are not my favorite band, they are one of my favorite bands to see live. I frankly am not enthralled with their studio material. Since they are no longer together I would suggest getting this one. Be on the lookout for a dvd from the final tour called, “tell me do you miss me.” This band is captured doing what they do best. It seems to be just another night for them. They are/were that good. It is a near musical tragedy that they have called it quits. This is the next best thing to seeing one of the best live bands.
