One of Neal’s Best Singer-Songwriter Albums

Fans of Neal Morse already recognize his influence and mastery of modern-day Progressive rock. Beyond that though, many of us appreciate Neal’s gifts as an outstanding songwriter. This album clearly demonstrates the latter. Nice blend of songs including quite a few you would expect to hear on vacation or on a lazy summer day (Livin Lightly, Selfie on the Square, and my favorite Wave on the Ocean, which I can’t get out of my head). Neal brings some easy country feeling with songs like Old Alabama and Lay Low (which seems very easy-listening 70s). A lot of fun throughout the album, including Manchester (the ending will make you smile), songs with story-telling appeal like Good Love is on the Way, Joanna, and You+Me+Everything. But true to Neal, his compassion and heart come to light on the faith-based If I Only Had A Day and his very emotional social-conscious song He Died At Home which deals with the tragedy and reality of soldier suicide. It’s amazing what was packed in this album. I recognize a lot of great songwriters like Lennon, Simon, Joel and John, just to name a few. Morse is my favorite though.
