  • Seriously Great Music!

I have been a long time fan of VH and I believe that as a musician grows, their music grows as well. This album reflects that maturity, and every song is fantastic. My personal favorite is True Illusion as I find the lyrics most profoundly truthful, and the music captivatingly eloquent to bring the song together. Thanks again Matt for another great album!
  • MODER SOUNDING DOES NOT MEAN GOOD

I love Vertical Horizon, but this is a sad departure for them. I don't mind some change, I understand there is evolving; this is not that. An entire album of what is wrong with modern music? These could have been great songs! The guitars, the great breaks, the catchy melodies, those are what we love about VH. None of that here. Yes, there are a couple songs that can grow on you, but this is: Everything You DON"T Want.

Many of the comments about the ablum are valid, a departure from what would normaly be expected from VH and Matt. I am a fan of Matt and his creativity and I certianly do not fault him for trying somthing new with this album, that's what artists do. The Lost Mile will have to grow on me over time. Again, not a bad collection of songs, just a differnt approach to what one might expect from VH. As a guitar player I do enjoy hearing Matt's playing, however this ablum lacks the VH guitar sound and for that I give this four stars. As always, grateful to have the latest edition and I look forward to the next one!

Thing only thing lost regarding this release is the listeners time & money.

I believe with this album Matt had something to say. However it’s hard to hear something new when your ears are focused on preconceived notions of what you expect to hear as opposed to being open to the fresh. Admittedly it’s an album that sounds different, and new. But isn’t that what a new album is supposed to sound like ?!? After allowing it to grow on me I’ve come really LOVE this album.

Yes, it is different but don’t give up too quickly. Let play. I bet you will get hooked but you have to listen.
  • What could have been?

I admit to great disappointment on first listen. Matt dropped the guitars for electronic instruments, keyboards and drum tracks. However, the song writing is as strong as ever bringing with it all the usual impact and emotion of his previous material. The sound is excellent. You’re going to me singing along at max volume unable to restrain yourself. But if you’re like me you’ll be left wondering how much more magical it could have been with actual musicians playing actual instruments.
  • Next up for Matt - Broadway composer / lyricist

Have listened to this album repeatedly, with headphones, and am convinced Matt (and Richard Marx) should team up and write the score for a Broadway musical.
  • Bring back Neil Peart!!!

The music is good but I miss the real drum recordings. The programmed drums just don’t do it for me. Remember when Neil Peart played drums on one of the tracks on the last album?! How cool would that have been if he had played drums on this whole album!
