Frankie Goes To Hollywood certainly struck lightnig in a bottle in 1984 with this album. The hit singles alone (Two Tribes, War, and, of course, Relax) rate as better than much else of what was being played on the radio(or on the dancefloor) in the early part of that decade and stand up, nearly forty years later, as brilliant cuts. The mammoth title track is, in itself, a work of genius. And despite much of the second half of the album being filler (and not great on its own), the album becomes greater than the sum of its parts. If you had to pick one album to perfectly describe the 1980s (musically, politically, socially, etc), this would be it. A necessary addition to any serious musical collection.
