It's Aaron Perrino and company, so you know it's going to be good. This EP is worth it just for the remix of "Billion Served" (one of my favorite DL tracks), but there isn't a throwaway track in here. Nation (Once Again), an extension of a track off "All I Ever Wanted..." is classic Perrino, poignant one minute and charging the next. What can I say? Just do yourself a favor and buy it. I'm a Skinny Puppy/Celldweller/Pigface type girl, and I HATE this "indie rock" genre as a whole, but DL and The Sheila Divine are still firmly ensconced in my top 10 favorite bands ever. It's a TRAVESTY these guys (or TSD, for that matter) haven't made it big yet.

You may remember lead singer and creative force Aaron Perrino's distinctive voice from his previous band the Sheila Devine. Dear Leader has a more raw, less produced feeling to it. They have grown more mature lyrically and melodically as they have aged. The material on this album is most similar to their masterpiece full-length album All I Ever Wanted Was Tonight, with a heavier, more electric feel than the other EP available (War Chords). This Vigorous Cravings is actually a heavier update of a more acoustic song from The Good Times are Killing Me, their first LP. They describe themselves as "politically and socially charged anthem rock." All I can say is that I saw them live in their homebase of Boston two days ago, and Aaron Perrino's energy and emotion produced chills. Do yourself a favor and but both EPs, and check out the website for Lunch Records to get the two LPs. These guys deserve national attention!
