  • Utter disappointment

Disappointed, when did within temptation become an electronica/industrial band? Where’s the urgency or emotion? All gone...
  • Great stuff

Yes this is a next step. I really suspect that they were influenced (on the instrumentals) heavily by M83. We'll have to see if they can pull that off on the road. Like the title says Great stuff

Love their music. Wish they'd tour the States. Maybe 2021?

Thank you Apple bugs. I just bought this album and I love some of the songs(at least from the previews) but Apple won’t let me play them. 🙃
  • Female Voiced Starset?

Not a huge Within Temptation fan, I previously only listened to “Paradise” and “Dangerous.” This album changed that for me. It’s very diverse and fleshed out in its use of traditional metal instruments, electronics, and orchestrations. It sound very, very similar to one of my favorite bands, Starset. I’d highly recommend this album to any fan of dramatic rock/metal. 🤘🏻

Every band needs to evolve. Great bands do this by staying true to their roots strong while exploring new paths. WT is an amazing band, but this offering is their weakest. Lost is the depth of emotion, involving and focused rythyms, and overall pull of each song. A rather tepid contribution to their impressive discography.
  • Great album

The newest Within Temptation album didn't quite catch on with me on first listen. However, after listening a few times, I really have gotten to love it. It really has so many great songs that it's hard for me to pick a favorite. Firelight is probably my number one, but I really enjoy Mad World and Mercy Mirror as well. Great album!

What a fantastic record...”Firelight” featuring the chill-inducing vocals of Jasper Steverlinck, possibly the most beautiful song I’ve heard in many years... yes, it’s a departure from all their previous albums but: a band can’t just rest on their laurels and not evolve their sound, otherwise the music would just become stale, repetitive, and boring... I can confidently say that this album is WT’s most “accessible” record to date, but that’s not a bad thing! I don’t believe it’s a sellout at all; it’s a chance to broaden their audience, thereby giving people the chance to experience ALL the music...people who don’t and wouldn’t necessarily listen to music in this genre. A similar thing happened to me...I’d never heard of Loreena McKennitt in my life until radio picked up a remix of “The Mummer’s Dance” that was more radio friendly, LOVELY electronica (but not enough to overpower the heart of the song.) After waiting eons for the radio DJ to give the name of the song and the artist. Once that finally happened, I raced to my car, and went to the nearest music store and purchased “The Book of Secrets” but was disappointed to discover that the remixed version of “The Mummer’s Dance” was nowhere to be found...however, I was floored by the music I did find on that album...and I wanted to hear more. Now, I’m a Loreena disciple, LOL. So, to wrap up this novel, I think this record and its departure from previous albums was an extremely wise move, and in my heart, it paid off many, many times over.
