Reviews

  • One of the greatest recordings ever

This is an amazing recording. Do yourself a favor thought...go buy it in another format. Legal downloads, without DRM, are available elsewhere. And they are cheaper. Shame on Apple and Sony for this double standards. I feel sorry for anyone who mistakenly bought this on itunes.
  • We raised our son on this music

My son's dad played this album all the time when our son was a baby, and still plays it for him at 13. Some songs are fantastically playful and some are touching portraits of archetypal characters. Though traditionally liked to African American culture, I related to them viscerally and loved them. Brown Baby is akin to that Kipling poem, If.... Dat Dere is as fun as any Dr. Seuss, Bid em In and Forbidden Fruit just make you cry. This is a great CD in any collection of world music.
