I loved this album when it came out, my friends had it and i always wanted it. i remember ordering some special promo ep w/ a single b-side that has never seemed to be released on anything else and being really excited about it. ultraspank's music undoubtedly exceeds their lyrical talent on this album. they're more fun with the lyrics. And they aren'tthat original but its also their first effort so i don't really hold that against them. the vocals are very similar to Maynard of Tool's vocals. infact so close that its kind of crazy, this is the only band I've ever known to come so close with their vocal stylings. and really thats not a reason to hate or like them... but i really love Maynards voice even now in my mid twentys. which i thought by now i wouldn't like alot of bands like that. but the first 3 Tool releases are still really awesome. especially their 3rd release. oh so back to ultraspank. These guys are kind of like Tool, less technical and with alot more industrial influence. and anger. i think they are alot of fun and you should atleast listen to butter or 5. its free to sample. I do remember the 2nd album not being musically as good as the first but i don't remember the lyrics being beter or worse or anything reallly.
  • They weren't more popular because they were bad.

These guys were bad Fear Factory wannabe's with the occasional NIN influence thrown in. Butter is the only song you can even remotely get into. All in all, a really good example of a bad era (the numetal era as I like to call it) of uncreative song writing in the late '90s.
