I first bought 'What Would Jesus Do' and loved the sound and played it on my radio show and got great pub. Rise is the first and only full album I have bought on iTunes. I am very picky and buy a particular sound one song at a time for my show. I am from SW Louisiana, lived in NOLA for a time and know the sounds and the winds. Rise is absolutely great. .."That You Don't Know What You Got 'Til It's Gone!"..Another recent recording adressing the devastation of Hurricane Katrina! "Rise" is like the "Last Rose Of Summer"; a thing of beauty to be enjoyed before it looses its petals! {You have seen the young Mr. Chris Thomas King as Robert Johnson in "O, Brother, Where Art Thou?" and as Lowell Fulsom in "Ray"!} (I'd never heard him play "For Real" until I got a "Discovery Downlaod"; and was very, very impressed!) My Roses: When Magnolias Bloom, Big Yellow Taxi, St. James Infirmary & What Would Jesus Do? Have "Faith" in the "Healing Power Of Music!"...by Grimmbo.

I downloaded Babtized after reading the synopsis. This song is phenomenal! I plan to download the rest of the album. This is the blues I have been searching for!

Who can't but weep to the music of Chris Thomas King. This album is an incredible testiment to what the blues is suppose to bring to your heart and soul! Anybody who isn't seriously moved by this album needs to check themselves in to a mortuary. For those who don't understand the depth of great music (and what a cover song is) heed this advice - "Rather to be silent and thought of as a fool, than speak (or write) and to be known as one." --- from one Redneck White Georgia Boy with the Blues

This is a great smooth album. I really enjoy listening to it. Also, for the person who said that Big Yellow Taxi was stolen from the Counting Crows, you are incorrect. Joni Mitchell was actually the person who first wrote and performed Big Yellow Taxi. The Counting Crows covered it, and now Chris Thomas King is covering it. Occasionally artists will cover songs by other artists that they really like. There is nothing wrong with that because then you can get many different versions of the same song, and sometimes the covered versions sound better (i.e. many covered versions of Leonard Cohen's songs). It's fine just so long as the artist does not try to claim that they wrote the song themselves.

Big Yellow Taxi is stolen from Counting Crows! I'm sure some other songs are stolen too. But this is like Kidz Bop, but stupider! Kidz Bop actually has a reason and target audience--- this has nothing! boop

This is Chris Thomas King's best album. The music is smooth, emotional, and was formed from one the worst natural desaster in this country. You can almost feel the sorrows of New Orleans in "Baptised in Dirty Water and "St. James Infirmary".

This album is amazing. I've been down to Mississippi and Louisiana since Katrina hit, and these songs really lend stories and visions to what that disaster was like. Very touching, well written tunes that stick in your head. Highly recommended. Also, a wonderful tribute to his mother "the last rose of summer" who recently passed away.
