I saw the hooters live many times in the mid 80's at 23 East in suburban Philly, and Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman were truly original singer/songwriters of that era. This album is good but is missing many of their earlier tracks/versions that were much more danceable and reggae-influenced such as the early versions of "fightin on the same side" and "blood from a stone" as well as "all you zombies". These were released on a self-titled debut LP album (which I still have) that perhaps we will one day see in digital form, a shame that they are not included here to get the full hooters experience!
  • What a band

I remember as a kid stumbling upon this band as I walked through the Willow Grove Park Mall in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. It was jam packed with fans. They also played at my High School Archbishop Wood. This band is the essence of 80's. I continue to love their music. This Album is a keeper in my collection.

Great live band with blend of pop, melody and grit that still holds up. Don't forget to give credit to that firebrand Patty Smyth on "Where do the Children Go." Their second major label release "One Way Home" is nearly as good as "Nervous Night." This compilation could have included one more cut from that album, "Engine 999" for my tastes. But that's a minor nit pick.
  • A good place to start, but...

...by no means is "Hooterization" a complete retrospective of this great band. They also released a brilliant album on a different label in '93 called "Out of Body", which unfortunately is not represented by any tracks on this collection. It's a shame too as the songs "Twenty-Five Hours a Day" & "One Too Many Nights" from the disc are among their very best. Also, for hardcore fans the disc "Hooters Live" which was recorded on their '93 German tour is a must as it contains fantastic live versions of all their hits plus a classy studio recording of Dylans "Blowin in the Wind" that really must be heard by all Hooters fans.

  • Captures their essence

This collection does, in large part, capture the essence of a band that many people only know by a few songs, and not even by name at times. Indeed, this is actually signified by the Album Review/Summary for this little Retrospective; in that the reviewer refers to the bulk of their "best material" being found on Nervous Night. While a lot of their commercial tunes are found upon that album this band should be remembered for more than their charting singles. Defining a band by their singles really does no one justice. In fact, this band really is best live. This is thankfully evident on two tracks from this album which are well worth the purchase themselves. On another note, this retrospective does compile things well in a flowing manner and you get the ever catchy "And we Danced as an Opener". Personnally, "Karla with a K" is my favorite of their tunes due to its original sound and you can't go wrong with a ender like "Beat up Guitar". I hope these guys churn out more and keep coming around to the town that rocked the nation, Philadelphia, PA. Selling them as just "All You Zombies" is like saying the Talking Heads were "Burning Down the House", nothing more; so, do them justice, and yourself, and take a good listen.

The Hooters are often overlooked but have put out such great music. This is an excellent compilation.
