I think Jimmy Tamborello was trying to break into a new genre when he made his debut album mistake mistake mistake mistake. I think he did pretty good job. About half to 3/4 of the songs are worth buying. The most of the songs are WAY to long though, but still good.
  • Not bad!

This isn't really the typical genre of music that I listen to, and when I first heard these songs I was a bit repelled. But they've grown on me, and I actually found this album quite enjoyable. Click YES if you think this album is great!

This album is alright. I prefer Dntel and the postal service. The songs I really do like on here though are You Again and 55566688833. You should defiitely check those out

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST ELECTRONIC (ALBUM) AND I SAY ALBUM BECAUSE IT IS EFFIN SOLID FROM END TO END IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS. INTELLIGENT, INNOVATIVE AND BRILLIANT LYRICALLY AT ALL THE RIGHT SPOTS. BRILLIANT!

I really like this album, I wasn't sure at first because this style of music is kind of new to me, but I really like it... actually more than the postal service. A bunch of the tracks, I think 3 or 4, are insturmental, which I like. Its great music just to mellow out to. But the tracks with lyrics are actually pretty deep. Pretend It's a Race turned out to be one of my favorite songs, then 55566688833. Very good album, I would definatly recomend it.

First of all, Jenny Lewis is in it for 30 seconds of one song and she doesn't even have any lyrics. Figurines first two albums stank and so does this one. Mistakex4 just smells less than the other two albums. Everything changed except the bass and his boring voice. There's no life in either one and it drives my ears MAD! I am upset that I wasted 15 bucks expecting something great. Do not let the colorful album art or sticker fool you. It's still the same old figurine.. just with better producers. If you want some digital music. Get The Unicorns (Who will cut our hair when we die?) or ISLANDS (Return to the Sea). These are must have albums unlike Figurine. They are more versitile in composing their wild experiments, whereas Figurine has better samples and tracks, but doesn't know what the hell to do with them. He just does the same crap he did in 2001. BORRRING!

I really don't understand why people who don't like this type of music come here and criticize it; that makes no freaking sense. Anyway, I like this album but it’s lacking the awesome vocals that I tend to like with this sound. I’m still gonna buy it because there’re some catchy songs in there that I can’t get out of my head.

Calling this CD a Mistake, how original! People get a life, if you like the CD great, if you don't, move on. There's a lot of music out there, stop wasting your time putting down an indie artist who puts his heart and soul into making this music? This record was never meant to be a Kompakt record, it is what it is, period.
  • almost prefer this over the postal service...

I am a huge fan of Ben Gibbard, yet Jimmy Tamborello has created one of the most brilliant albums of 2006. Yes, James Figurine lacks the vocals and "charm" of Postal Service; however, Tamborello has more than made up for this with one of the most musicially inticing albums of recent memory.
