Reviews

  • Groups DO Grow...but sometimes it's boring

Yes. Groups Do grow. The Beatles grew as did many other bands. The sound and harmonies are excellent. The lyrics must be in the now BUT...basically the tunes are kind of lifeless. A little upbeat is not a bad thing. Three components to a great CD Lyrics, production and tunes that remain with you. 2 out of 3ain't bad but not memorable.
  • Guster Evolving

I always wonder what kind of people always review groups or artists and compare their recent work with what they did when they were in their twenties. Do you expect people to stay exactly where they are not grow. Have you not grown as an individual. Have your tastes and interests not evolved. I like the new Guster album...but I say that with every album. They are not stagnant, they change, and with it so does their music.

Their melodies are melodic. Their harmonies are harmonic (and sometimes even harmonica)! A band who becomes more pertinent and relevant over time. Literally one of the best bands ever.
  • "Ooh La La" Rod Stewart remake??

I thought that Guster was going to do the remake of the 1973 Faces "Ooh La La" (which was sung by Ron Wood) BUT also Rod Stewart was also in Faces in 1973 BUT in 1998, Rod did the remake (with a little help from Irish group The Corrs) in 1998 (from "When We Were The New Boys" album).

Not their worst albums but maybe their most boring album. What has happened to our beloved Guster? Once such a creative and energetic band has become bland and boring over their past 3 records. I keep hoping for a return to their glory days
