Reviews

  • Sounds a little too familiar but then again not...

I've followed Eric from his very first solo album (after Dunsten Ashe was no more). I have all the albums and really enjoyed them at first... but I'm finding that many of the songs have the same rhythm/beat and there really isn't much diversity in his sound. I guess it's just the way some artists are - but for me, the songs start sounding so much alike I get bored with it. I'm holding out hope for his next album (hopefully he doesn't rush it out, as lately he seems to be trying to push them out too quickly).
  • Eric baby, SLOW DOWN

It's not a bad album, but it's just a bit too fast. Eric is incredibly talented, but this album is also the must frantic of everything i've heard. The tempo of the album is so rushed that there seems to be no time to really savor the music. That doesn't mean it's not good, it works... if you have a lawn to mow. The easy ride Mr. H, isn't here. Let's introduce "Marathon Eric".
  • A thankful addition...

I gotta say I wasn't too pleased with Dark Horse. It just didn't hit me like I Go On... and All For Show did. Everywhere All At Once definetly renewed my faith. From the start The Difference is well written and hits a certain chord in it's story telling as does Thanks and everything down the line. It's a varietous album with Worry About Nothing slowing down a bit before picking up again at Where I'm Going (my album favorite). Every song is outstanding. If I had to gig any of em, it would be I Don't Wait Well. Not really a beat I'd expect of him and the words don't capture me. But definetly an acoustic listner's forte, buy it.

Eric's new cd is everywhere in my house, my car, my iPod and I cant get enough of it!! This album rocks! It's just as sound if not better than all his previous albums... If you buy all of his albums (which is highly recomended) you can hear his sound develop and grow from album to the next. His sound is unique and will remind you of many different artists. This album is very upbeat and energizing! Many styles of music is blended nicely throughout the album. DL it as soon as you can!! Miss seeing you in Pittsburgh Eric! Come to Fla soon!!

The production on the album is first rate and the music is rich in textures and harmonies. It reminds me a little of The Beatles "White Album" in that contains 15 songs and explores a variety of music styles. ~ everything from toe-tapping country twang to punk-rock and soft jazz. There is also plenty of the introspective acoustic music that hallmarks Eric's earlier albums. It is literally "Everywhere All At Once" and that is a good thing. There are also a lot of firsts on Everywhere; his first dance song "Something to Dance To" which has the feel of a top 10 hit, his first gay anthem "Love Don't Hide", and his first ode to villainy "Acquired Taste". Acquired Taste is probably my favorite song as of this writing, but then I always had a thing for the bad guys. Few artist on today's music scene can match Eric in raw talent and execution. I highly recommend this album for anyone who wants something new and real.
  • Too Overworked, and way under cooked

This Cd has yet to still grow on me. I've replayed over and over in my ipod and yet no spark! Being a follower from the beginning I feel this lacks. Lacks heart, depth, a passion. I seems as if it was thrown together for the sake of making a record. It's way under cooked, and a bit overworked. Take me back to the Eric who wrote more from the heart. With albums like All for show, and I go on... Where is that Eric? I wanted to hear some fingers making love to the guitar strings, with some vocals to set the ambiance, but nothing. "I don't Wait Well" would be better as a ballad, And the other track that does anything for me is "What I Can give". To be honest he could have given alot more. I know he's got more in him. I'd give this album a 21/2 stars if i'd let me, But since Eric is a great guy as a friend, and I know he's got better in him. I'll give it a 3. Guess This is a matter of "Aquired Taste". Meet ya in St. Louie.

I don't want to discredit dark horse (my previous favorite) or any other of Eric's previous albums (They're all good, this boy is talented) by saying this is the best. But this album very well may be Eric Himan's best work. A number of the tunes jump out on first run through. Honestly, the whole album is good. I absolutely love "Where I'm Going." Love it! I can't stop listening to it. Bartender, Whether I do or don't mind, Love don't hide, Acquired Taste, Something to Dance To; they're all great. If you've bought any of Eric's other albums, or even if you haven't, this one is a must have.
  • Another great disc
