They say re-recorded and for me thats a turn off. some songs are re done now and not originals. I want originals but because of the re recorded description I wont even consider buying or listening to it for that reason.

Sampled a few and they are remakes. The Record Label K-tel generally tells me the songs are not the original versions as K-tel doesn't want to pay royalties.

I hate to disagree with the reviewer that said he is not old enough to detremine if these are the original recordings, purchased the cd and stated that they are the original after listening to it. Well I hate to dissapoint you, but I collect original 45's and I am from that era. These are definitly not the original recordings. I am really upset that they are passing these off as originals. 1. I hate fakes 2. Do not like re-recordings Originals PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

TonkaWonka is right; I love 50s rock and listened to one sample: "Little Star". It is clearly not the original, as I have heard that version. If you're looking for the original rock & roll hits, don't buy this. I give it three stars for effort though. =)

There are those of us that are intimately familiar the original versions of these songs, and to us, this is a big deal. I want the records I remember hearing, not re-records. To those of you that don't think it's a big deal, you are a part of the problem, as you will by sub-standard product, which encourages iTunes to keep carrying them, and expect the rest of us to be happy with it too. Not gonna happen. Those original recordings have a vibe and sound all their own, and it cheapens the experience of listening to those same songs, when they've been re-recorded in a modern facility, often without the original artist present. Not everyone ha a refined ear, or as good a memory as they may think they have when it comes to classic hits. I still have one friend that honestly believes that Apache was a hit for The Ventures. It wasn't. It was a hit for Jorgen Ingman. But he bought the Ventures version anyway, and really can't hear the difference. I can, and most other folks can too. We don't want re-recorded versions. We want the original hot releases, with those original mono mixes for AM radio, and the original stereo version as well (mono and stereo versions don't differ in punch or vibe, but they do differ in clarity and dynamics). I work in the industry as a mastering engineer, and have been buying records since 1959, and I remember all of those original records, and many more that predate my existence. This needs to stop. iTunes has gotten a bit better about this, but it needs improvement.

The only thing good about this collection of remakes is the song choices. The songs they chose to knock off are all great ones, and it would be terrific to have a collection of the originals of these songs, but you'd have to be half-deaf to think these all sound like the originals... Unfortunately, it's too good to be true!

Shame on apple ! Trying to pass off this collection as originals, listing original artists then seling fakes. This is a con job and a blatant misrepresentation. Apple music is full of this rubbish - thought apple had more class than to rip off their customers.

These songs are not original radio releases, by any means!! Be forewarned! The only song that is an original is Red River Rock, by Johnny & the Hurricanes from 1959. K-Tel & Goldenlane are NOTORIOUS for re-releasing old songs, NOT in their original form, as heard on the radio, back in the day, or even today. Thankfully, my background in oldies music is such, to be able to realize what is fake and what is authentic! 1/10 P.S...oldiesfan made a comment about this album as being the correct versions....He does not know what he's talking about.
