    Cy Coleman really outdid himself here. The score is alternately catchy and reflective, with brilliant performances by the actors. Standout songs include "Youre Nothing Without Me" and "You Can Always Count On Me".

    Randi Graff's "You Can Always Count On Me" is an amazing performance of an amazing song, and the score itself remains of my all-time favorites. Personally, I prefer the original London cast recording (1993), which had a stunning Martin Smith playing Stine (which Gregg Edelman played on Bway), but if you can't get that recording, this is a very good second.

    If only more theater companies were brave enough to mount this show. If they did, the show would skyrocket to it's rightful status in public awareness (theater types already know how good it is). It's really a gem: Great swing-era score/orchestrations (I mean really great!), fun plot, involved, and an amazing vehicle for good singer/actor/dancers. Yes, it takes a talented triple-threat cast (tight harmonies are never easy are they?), but it's such a good goal for a cast/company to aspire to. Cy Coleman really knocked it out of the park with this one.

    I generally don't like jazzy stuff, but this soundtrack is SO catchy it's AMAZING! Favorite songs: All You Have To Do Is Wait for it's morbidly amusing take on death by suffocation and You're Nothing Without me for...everything. In one day it made it to my top 20 most played list...THAT'S how amazing it is! Love this album! BUY IT BUT IT or at least those 2 songs. P.S. Does anyone think that the person who plays Stone sounds vaguely like Carl Kasell?

    Contained is some masterful writing by Cy Coleman. The musicians are quite superb and the melodies are quite melodious! It's too bad this didn't become a true classic in musical theatre.

    I am glad to see this on iTunes - I had the cassette years ago and wanted to find this music again. I had been told for a long time it was out of print or not available. This is one of my favorite soundtracks and I just love Rachel York in the role as Mallory! Her voice is amazing and the songs are clever and well written, put that with a great recording and you've got a hit! Enjoy this album - it's an oldie but a goodie!

    Ok, I have to admit that, when I first heard of this, I expected something totally different. But this musical is better than what I'd expected. "You Can Always Count On Me" is great, and it certainly helps that Randy Graff is an amazing singer. "With Every Breath I Take" is really good, too, and so are the rest of the songs. Definitely worth it.

    i was unfamiliar with this music let alone the play until my band director decided to make it our theme for our 2007 season. The Madison Scouts did a similar show and it was mind blowing, and with the additions my director has made to theme, funny, and the balled with every breath i take, this years show will win praise for our band. Hearing the source music and i wish we had had even more time to add more to the show. Curse halftime for only being 15 minutes long : P
