[adult swim] is very decent and so is this album. Normally I hate hip-hop but this is acutally really good along with Talib, Mr. Lif and Braille. I'd totally recommend this album to a friend.

Let me just sum it up. Every single one of these tracks is at least o.k. 10 of these are at least good. 5 of these are GREAT. Here's those 5. (in order) 1. Guilty Simpson - Clap Your Hands 2. Aloe Blacc - What Now 3. Madlib - Take It Back 4. J Dilla - Nothing Like This 5. Koushik - None In Mind I'd recommend getting the whole thing because you will be surprised of how eclectic this rap mix is.

  • 5 Star'D Review

I've noticed that some people gave this album a rating other than 5 stars b/c it supposedly lacks the hip hop flow that we've grown to know, luv, & feel. Some anticipated it as being a continuation of where we left off before the whole Hot Boyz era. But i thought of it to be more than a continuation, but a somewhat different style that branches off from the genre. Unexpected sound & vibe, but not bad at all.

Holy gosh, I love this album, its deffinately one of my faves. I love the J Dilla, who is a God and MF Doom is one of my idols. It was this album that introduced me the likes of Madlib and Guilty Simpson. And if you're going to get anything from this review, it should be that this album should go unheard by no one, thus giving Stones Throw Records the recognition they deserve PeanutButter Wolf For Life

J Dilla's Nothing Like This is probably the best instrumental hip hop track ever released.
  • Good Music...

However, If you are expecting to hear a completely hip hop only album, look somewhere else. I give it a three for the first half of the album that is actually hip hop music.

This album is amazing i think . One of the best hip hop compilations . Even cooler that it has J Dilla on here . Mad props to what J Dilla did while he was alive . Everything he did was out of this world . Props to stones throw for making the Chrome Children cd .
  • REAL HIP HOP

Now this is REAL hip hop. Turn off your radio, and turn up Chrome Children. Stones Throw has the best artists out there and focuses on the music, not the catchy, in your face, chorus like a lot of hip-hop is today. Ill beats, Ill lyrics, and keepin' it dead funky with my man Dudley Perkins! Honestly, one of the best Jaylib tracks in my honest opinion. Buy this album already if you haven't and get the DVD too. Crazy sick. Subscribe to the Stones Throw podcast too for a ton of free mixes!
