Tull is one of my favorite work out play lists. I fear Aqualung and now it has a nice fresh cover. Also there are songs I don't know so I get something new. And how long is this album. I see a good 40 miles of easy fast paced riding. If you love a song or artist you should enjoy their covers. This thing sounds cool.

I am really enjoying this creation of Ian Anderson's. Every time I listen to it I become very cheerful and happy. I've been listening to Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson since I was 15 years old and I am now 55. I lost track of him for a time but found this when I did an ITunes search and I found it refreshing and thought it a brilliant idea to add an orchestra. It can't be easy staying a successful musician for 40 + years and this just shows me he can think outside the box and do things that continue to make his fans happy and him successful. I love it!!!

I saw Ian perform Orchestral Tull in Burlington,VT It was thrilling to sit there right below the stage and see him come dancing out with his flute. No this is not Aqulung or Thick as a Brick, but it shows what a master musician he is even if his voice is not what it used to be. In Orchestral Tull, Ian is re defining these great songs. A true artist finds new ways to express himself. I love classic Jethro Tull, but I'm glad that this is not a parrotting of things past. These are great songs defined in a fresh way.
  • Revisit, rehash, find Anderson's son a job

In the late 1980s, Ian Anderson began fiddling with some older Tull songs for his live shows. Some of the results were sublime, like Living in the Past and Serenade to a Cuckoo. But too much of a good thing can make you lazy. Instead of writing new material, Ian apparently has now dedicated himself solely to rearrangements of his former glories. On this album, he's rehashing the rehashes, and he's doing it with an orchestra (plus his son James on drums). Problem is, a lot of the songs on this album are limpwristed versions of the original. Anderson didn't take many risks and the orchestra frequently goes to waste. The noteable exception here is a one-of-a-kind rearrangement of Aqualung. I'd recommend downloading that track only. Then, pray that Anderson comes out with some new music before he hangs up his codpiece for good.

  • Such a shame that Ian's voice has disintegrated

Ian Anderson used to be one of my favorite vocalists, but in this album he fights for every note like a recovering asthmatic. I have no idea how he lost his formerly amazing voice that was so powerful and dramatic, but listening to his wheezing on this album is personally embarrassing and leaves me wondering why he still tries to sing. He hasn't lost a thing in his playing but to hear Ian at his best vocally, listen to "Songs from the Wood", "Stand Up", "Thick as a Brick", "Storm Watch", "Passion Play" and others from these eras.

Ian Anderson reveals another dimension of his musical genius by putting an incredible twist on what were already great songs.

when somebody says Jethro Tull, I think of Thick As a Brick, Benifit, Aqualung, Stand Up, not this crap, cut the crap Ian and get your real stuff going. Fortunately enugh, itunes got some real Jethro Tull. Which happnes to constantly get 5 starts :)

Now are you happy? Itunes did not lie and one quick look see and listen would tell you it is Ian Anderson going solo with a lot of backup. It must be the young blood complaining as any seasoned Tull fan is too old and tired to argue with Itunes. Welcome. It is really cool you like my generations music. Don't be embarassed. I loved Frank!!!!
