  • My Favorite Album of All Time

This is my favorite album of all time. I don't really think to compare them to that other Dublin band. CWN is darker, edgier and more punk rock than that. I love the wailing feedback of the guitars, solid steady drumming and bass lines, great lyrics and great vocals.
  • Great genre rock

Cactus World News remains one of the great bands of the 80s "Alternative" genre - fresh, intelligent and excellent musicianship…I still listen to it regularly.

I got to see these guy's rip apart first ave back in the 80's with about 10 other people. I hoped that one day this would make it to cd, now if they can only the first ep from Mother records out that would top this.

One of the most under-rated bands of the mid-1980s, right up there with Midnight Oil. So finally this album is available again! My casette tape wore out 10 years ago and finding another copy has been impossible! Thanks CWN and iTunes for making this available. I'm buying the entire album now!!! You guys are awesome!
  • Several great songs from a forgotten band

Loved this album (on casette) back in the 80s, but managed to lose it over the years. I gave up on Itunes last year and bought this album from CWN's website (and paid way too much). Several songs should have been mainstream hits in my opinion. "The Promise" is a true masterpiece -- starts off very slow, but builds to a triumphant conclusion. Very happy that CWN can now be shared with a new generation.
  • A Classic Underrated Album. Don't pass this up!!

A lost 80s gem and a much unappreciated band, whose most recent work is every bit as awesome as this. Every single song on here is awesome! There is no filler here. Just great music. Some awesome guitar work from Frank Kearns. Ian's passion-filled vocals are just incredible. Powerful drumming and bass make for a tight rythm that just drives these songs. If you are like many who have been hunting for this album, you will be greatful to see it available on Itunes, as I most definitely am.
  • Still the best album ever!

Well I've been inspired to write my first review by CWN's ultimate arrival here! Much deserved and appreciated as this remains one of the best albums I've ever had on vinyl/tape. It rocks at every turn over and over and is perfectly sentimental and quiet at the perfect times. One of the most underrated albums of our collective mid-80's generation of before-it's-time alternative rock. If you are a fan of the usual stuff of this era, this will blow your mind.

One of the best albums to come out of Ireland. I remember seeing Cactus perform at Self Aid in '86 and they were incredible. Thanks itunes for giving us this legend of a album!

Not to be ignored..one of the best albums in irish rock to have never hade it big. I was dispointed that U2 never brought them futher, but, nonetheless a killer album. I still have the vinyls...make an offer!

I grew up in Dublin and picked up the casette of CWN a year or two after it was released. It as been with me ever since however only today the box is of any use. I looked for the CD online and it was $50 I was considering getting it until I found this on iTunes. The song Worlds Apart is the greatest song ever written and gets my heart racing everytime I listen to it. All the other songs up to Track 11 Cashen Bay Strand are each brilliant in their own way. The lyrics are splendid and capture the feeling of desperation in Ireland around that time. A lot of musicians left to find glory in London CWN amoung them. Tracks 12 through 17 were not on the original Album so nice bonus there. By the way Go Dti an Tra means going to the beach in Gaelic. Sorry to waffle on but let me finish by imploring you to add this magnifcant album to your collection. Slan.
