I bought this album when it first came out and I am listening to it as I post this review . The lyrics and music is beautifully devised and Duncan Sheik is so underrated

I actually found him while watching the weather forecast. His music was playing in the background.

I hear heart, soul, and patience for creative excellence in this album. I hear it's songs coated with his uniquely velvet sound and great musicality. Happy ears. :-)

This album has everything but most importantly it has tremendous heart. The artistry is obvious in every song. It is one of the few albums that I've listened to every year since I bought it. It's like a cherished member of my family. Definitely a must have!

Duncan... I can understand the need to express, poetically, melodically. But you're also good at putting together catchy tunes also! Think Adam Duritz (Counting Crows, one of my top 3). He's a true poet, and a fantastic songsman. I have times when I want to relax, think. But more often I want something that feels good, that I can hum throughout the day. The whole of this album is quite "coffee house", while Barely Breathing is exactly what I crave. If you want to put something on in the background while you buzz around the house, get it all. But it will only mellow you, not pick you up.

Duncan is one of the reasons I pursued my own musical career. You can tell poetry is the backbone behind all of his lyrics and it proves you can successfully mix the two together. Highly recommended if you need a little musical inspiration. Phil
