Shows you what NY was supposed to be proud of in a time where music seemed hopeless. This made me proud when NY was in a drought

Like Royce said Joell is the body of Slaughterhouse and he kills it on here. Plz get over to Shady Records and send 50 out on his way.

this album suffers a little from what most great lyricist's albums suffer from: great beats. Joell is on point with his lyrics but just a few of his songs could use a better beat. still worth purchasing, to be honest this album is the tip of the iceberg of joell's creativity, just listen to his freestyles.

Possibly four and a half stars... Joell Ortiz is one of the best rappers in the game right now. iTunes needs to get the Hip Hop remix with Saigon and Jadakiss.
  • Joell is increible

Not one weak song on this album, definitely one of the best of the year without a doubt. "The Brick" takes New York hip-hop back to its true form: gritty and introspective project building memoirs, not all this mainstream south biting that New York mc's are doing nowadays. Guests and producers compliment the Brooklyn sound perfectly and Joell goes in hard on every single verse with a flow all his own.
