I dont like this album, but I respect it. The arists took pink floyd's music and remade them with their own style.

Songs are at the point where you can tell it's not Pink Floyd.
  • Fairly Amazing for Floyd Covers

Personally, I loath cover versions of songs by my favorite bands. Anytime someone tries to replicated The Who or The Beatles it justs makes me crave for the originals. And the same with Pink Floyd, until now. These cover versions allow the Floyd to become accessable to those who might not usually take their music to heart. A punk version of "Time"...perfect example. "Breathe" done with some honky tonk? I love it. It's an excuse to have FUN with Pink Floyd and sardonically enjoy the fact that I'm sure it drives Roger nuts. Much obliged.
  • Stop thinking like this is Floyd!

If you look at it like it's something else, then it's four stars.

If you want Pink Floyd's version of their unparalleled songs, buy them (if you don't have them already). But if you want to hear some artists taking risks with Floyd's songs, get A Fair Forgery. Yes, there's some "power pop" on this record but there are plenty of subtle, fresh renditions as well. Listen to Quetzal's latin flavored Mother or Tom Freund's Nawlins style Fearless or Graham Parker's haunting read of Comfortably Numb or Courtney Fairchild's folky Nobody Home. This record comes out of left field, out of the stands and out of the stadium. And if you are willing to take a risk, there's nothing but reward in listening to these interpretations of the classics.
