Flatfoot 56 mixes punk, celtic, bluegrass, and Oi music. Their music is extremely unique. Every song on this album has meaningful lyrics, and amazing music. Josh is a great piper and mandolin player. You can hear his talent many songs on this album. I wish more people knew about Flatfoot 56. They are a great band. Now iTunes please make Flatfoot's first two albums "Rumble of 56" and "Waves of War" available for download. Those albums are so hard to find, and they are amazing albums too. All Flatfoot 56 fans would greatly appreciate having those two albums available.

This album has an amazing sound, but the lead singer is a little disapointing. His voice sounds like a grizzly bear with a cold. The music is amazing though so that makes this album worth it. But searusly they need a new singer.

I really didnt believe that this album could be this good. It is much smoother and clean then Knuckles Up, but not to the point where it seems over done. Tobins vocals have only gotten better and better as time goes on. The use of Bagpipes has been cut down a bit but to offset that they put in a more Flogging Molly- esque swing and mandolin. All that without losing the energy and speed that made their debut so awesome. Flatfoot 56 is one of the best celtic punk bands out there. The message on this CD is still up lifting. Somehow the lads manage to play punk and still be clean, uplifting AND fun to listen to. To the haters that slander for the sake of not liking Celtic- Punk, listen to this, it may grow on you.

I've seen Flatfoot 56 play 4 times and I'm never left disappointed. This album is energetic and has one of the best usage of bagpipes that I have ever heard!

One of my all time faves! This band is good, but even better in concert. I've seen them twice and I look forward to seeing them again. I can't wait for the new album coming out this Fall. These guys are the best!

The young crew of four from Southside of Chicago are back again with Flicker Records with only good things to report. Though most reviews here on iTunes are biased towards the band, I can only say this band has truly evolved since their earlier record: Knuckles Up. The most evident from the beginning is the crisp and clear sound through my ears that allows for the ironic clash of chaos and composure that other Oi! Rock bands have seemed to swing and miss in their LPs. The intro is among the few in my book that seem worth listening to before rushing the listener into Carry 'Em Out, and straight through the swinging bagpipes of Loaded Gun that prove in lyrics to hold their strong Christian beliefs that resounded through their earlier album. Other tracks to mention include the lighthearted Hoity Toity with interesting words to consider, the hardhitting mandolin slamming Chinatown Jail Break which never ceases to be a crowd pleaser at concerts, and my personal favorite Ollie Ollie which is both catchy and still keeping to the fast paced action that flatfoot is known for. Though it quickly winds down with the short and sweet Standin' for Nothing, as well as their album track Jungle of the Midwest Sea that continues in its strong influence of mandolin sound, it is understandable that beating the popular Amazing Grace that concluded Knuckles Up so well is very difficult. Same Ol' Story tells a tale of one of the members struggle with his faith in Christ and how regardless of how beaten down he was, the Father's hand held tight the way through. Flatfoot 56 is my favorite oxymoron of them all, the oh so humbling punk rock band that continues to shine light on the dark world we live in; and Jungle of the Midwest Sea truly epitomizes the band in every way possible. A must buy for any Celtic/Punk/Oi Rock lover, 5 stars no doubt.

I can really judge a piece of music based on its ability to make me want to do lil' jig...and this passes the test with flying colors, interesting though they are a christian band? ummm??? well i dont think you can be considered irish unless you drink...christ or not, beer has to be top 2 at least. but great music either way.
