I originally purchased this as an audio cassette way back when it was originally released. Couldn't really get in to it then, but I decided to purchase it via iTunes recently...wow, what a beautiful, meaningful collaboration between truly unique artists. I can't stop listening to it.
  • Easily as good as any other pre "Heaven or Las Vegas" Cocteau material

And more dreamy that their usual stuff, which is already dreamy as it is. Highest recommendation.

Listening to this album on my iPOD makes me feel I am going to some journey in a boat and leaves me lost for good and never want to return. Awesome album a true masterpiece. The Ghost Has No Home my absolute favorite.

This album evokes a special surreal and relaxing atmosphere via its ambient music. I've listened to it for close to 20 years, it doesn't get old.

If asked what ten albums would be an essential in any collection, "The Moon and the Melodies" would be the first album mentioned, without hesitation. Every single track finds me blissed out and I would venture a guess that something this lovely has therapuetic value. A supremely divine collaberation and an absolute must have for music lovers of any and all ilks.

This collaboration with Harold Budd is not to be missed. It is in a similar vein to other Cocteau Twins - imagine some of the "This Mortal Coil" CDs without the whiny bits - in other words, an ethereal, sweeping classic.

I recommend this album for any musician from any background or genre. Whilst it is classified as ROCK, this album can teach anyone about melodies. It is perfect for the psychedelic tripper in all of us. So beautiful. You will think this music was created for the angels in Heaven.
