This is a good album by a band that really has only released good albums. All of their material is always top notch, solidly written and doesn't suffer from the same-y sound that most other Ska bands suffer from. I got into them in during mid-90s Ska explosion (by Ska standards), and they are really the only one of all those bands that I still listen to. Very enjoyable, well arranged, somewhat diverse and they rock. It's just disappointing that this album is so poorly produced. Unless they were going for that "recorded in a bathroom" sound. I want to turn it up and listen to it loud, but It just doesn't get up there without sounding like my speakers are full of cotton balls. When your going to release an album every 5 years, you got to make it properly.

I think this is one of the most underwhelming releases from the Pietasters. It just seems like they phoned it in. Poor production marrs this from start to finish. I have been a huge fan of the Pietasters since playing with them in the 90's in the Cleveland/Pittsburg area but feel that they may be now past their prime. As for the review of the album on iTunes, I find it hilarious that 1/2 the review is about how great the packaging is when you can only get the cover if you buy it here.

It is rare that I like a whole album and listen to it start to finish. But this album has so much variety and yet a consistent cool feel over every song. When I listen to it in my car friends say who is this? When was it made? You're so cool to have found this, now kiss me. Thanks Pietasters.

Washington D.C.’s The Pietasters are back with one of their best albums to date! The five years since their last album has been worth the wait as it has given the band time to regroup and deal with some unfortunate times. “All Day” reaffirms that this band can still evoke what was truly great about the 50’s Ska and Soul music. “Change my Ways” and “Keep on Lyin’” take you back to the days when Motown ruled the charts while “Don’t Wanna Know” and “Anj Girl” will take you back to 50’s Kingston and the beginning of Jamaican music, where soul was morphed into what is now called ska. Overall, I believe the wait was definitely worth it and the Pietasters do what they do best and make you want to kick off your shoes and dance to the music! If you are a fan of ska and soul then The Pietasters’ “All Day” is a must buy!

This CD is a nice addition for any ska kid. It has some great laid back 2Tone numbers, some skankin fun tunes, and a few that really show the Pietasters creativity. I personally recommend #1 with it's fun Specials-esque beat, #3-5 with some cool sounds, and #11 & 12 with their good, nice beats - you'll be singing along. I was most impressed with #10, So Long. It really shows the depth of their creativity and shows their ability to get anyone off their feet. This CD isn't the best ska CD, but it's worth your money. Give it a listen, you shouldn't be disappointed if you're looking for an enjoyable earful of good, delightful ska.

The Pietasters go from soul to ska to reggae to rock. And they do it all seemlessly. Check out soulful slow churn of Late Night Call, the northern soul of Change My Ways and the old school ska of Don't Wanna Know. Fantastic.
