  • My Favorite Album of All Time... ALL TIME... EVER

The odd thing about Passion Leaves a Trace, is that it's not as well rounded as their other albums. Of the few Black Lab songs I'm not a fan of, most of them are on this one. But I guess that's just the price I had to pay because just about EVERY other track on here became an instant favorite! Weightless, Mine Again, The Real You, Sun and Moon, Pictures of People... these are all songs that bring their own specialty to the table and have enough depth to be listened to over and over and over. The raw passion of Mine Again is impossible to miss, the loss and memory combined with such strange and yet beautiful electronic sounds in Weightless makes an unforgettable connection, and the questions asked by Pictures of People will surely cause you to take a second look at the way we live life and pass the time. I could come up with a brief description like that for every song, but I think it's really better that you discover your own connection with these songs, and I think surely you will. Gone, A Day Alone, Good, The Window, and Broken Heart don't do much for me for whatever reason, but they might for others. Though this is the least perfect album that Black Lab has done, it's the best. And as odd as it may sound, I think it may in fact be that imperfection which makes it so memorable. After all, as humans we are imperfect, and some of our most memorable experiences often are from times where we were acting imperfectly. That's what Passion Leaves a Trace is. It's memorable, nostalgic, and awe-inspiring. Thank you Paul and Andy for giving me such great music to listen to everyday. I truly appreciate it, and please keep making music!

I was introduced to this album by a clip played in an episode of House, MD. Never heard of the group before, but I'm definitely a fan of theirs now.

What a double edged sword!!! If BlackLab was better known, they'd be huge. Problem is... if they were better known, would they stay as good as they are??? I first heard the song, 'This Night', on a podcast story. It was one of the outro songs, I believe. I can barely remember what the podcast was called, but I definitely remembered that song. Immediately came to iTunes and searched for the group, found this album and purchased that one song. But, I loved the song so much that I kept coming back to listen to the samples of the rest of the album. Have been burned on album purchases before, but took a chance, anyway. Man, am I glad I did. Go ahead, take the chance. It's the best way to find the new group you'll come to love! The entire album is good, but my favorites are 'This Night', 'Weightless', and 'The Window'.

Doing a search for a specific song, I found this album. So glad I did! Love "This Night" and "Mine Again." Had to go back for more...and more. Can't wait for new music from them, whoever they are--they are awesome. Thoughtful lyrics, beautiful vocals, awesome drums and it all combines to be a truly great listen. I usually get music I can work to, and then other music to drive to--but Black Lab will be played often for both.

This band is great. I first heard the song "weightless" on the TV show flashpoint, and fell in love. I don't see why they are so un-popular, but in a way, I hope they stay that way. When most small-time bands get really huge, they change, and so does the music that comes with the. So, while I hope for their success, I also hope it comes without the price of a different sound. PS: They are AWESOME!!!
  • Excellent.

A friend of mine introduced me to Black Lab with the song Weightless...And I was blown away. The rest of this CD is just as impressive. Definitely worth the money.
