I'll be honest this CD took awhile to grow on me and at first listen I was disappointed. I now can't get these tunes outta my head. Would You Love Me?; Doubter Out of Jesus; A Woman's Voice; and Talkin' New Kingdom just knock me over. CP has got to be one of the most under appreciated songsmiths out there today. Download this CD, see him live, buy his merchandise let's make this guy rich and famous.

Gets better with each listen. Lyrics, music all comes together. He's the Prophet of today's music! ...a few months later, my opinon hasn't changed. Mesmerizing!

Gez I love this guy. I can't say that this is his greatest album. They all are great. Each one is as good as this album. I have collected all of his CD's and still needed more. I went back to Green On Red and any other music I could find with his name associated with it. He is overwhelmingly his greatest as a solo artist. If my house was on fire and I could only grab an armful of CD's I would grab his discs first (I own 3000+). I really want him to have commercial success he deserves it. On the other hand only if he can control his music. I know I sound like I am trying to sell CP. But, if you haven't heard any other of his CD's - let me just say GO BUY THEM ALL! I am already waiting for his next release.

I became of fan of CP at a small club in the Berkshires several years ago. My opinion, Chuck is one of the most underrated artists. Chuck blends a soulful, folk-rock attitude with blues and terrific guitar riffs. As a singer-songwriter, I look to CP for inspiration and he has not let me down with this album.

The song "Naked Ray" enraptures your soul. Chuck Prophet's music is full of imagery and heart felt lyrics that capture your imagination. The instrumentation and how they are arranged are sophisticated yet cultivated in a simple way. It's like they fall in all the right places. More people need to hear his music.

This is the best album I've heard in awhile. I've been struggling to find music lately that interests me, and I heard a cut from this on NPR, and immediately listened to all of the tracks. The funky Freckly Song is great for working out, and many of the other tunes are slower, but gritty and interesting. Definitely worth a listen! If you like Steve Earle and Son Volt, you'll probably like this.

...since an album has moved me like this one. The lyrics ("If I could hold that moment to my chest, I swear I'd disappear"), the melodies, the simplicities and the complexities, it's so close to perfect I'm tempted to buy it for everyone I know. Chuck's voice, combined with his driving melodies and lyrics like a bass guitar...he's just plain sexy. Can't wait to see him here in Denver on Thursday.

It's so refreshing to hear an artist who produces excellent melodies (great use of percussion) with smart, funny, haunting lyrics. I was sold after hearing him on David Letterman 9 Jan. After several listens to the entire album, Chuck gained a new avid fan. The whole album is my new favorite but if I had to single out a few songs: Would You Love Me? Soap and Water, Doubter Out of Jesus.

I played drums with Tim Easton for a long time and Chuck opened for us one night in Kanas City, why I'm not sure, and he killed that night. Ever since then I was a fan. His guitar playing is something to behold and his songwriting is always on the money. This album is so freaking catchy that I can't stop listening to it. Give Chuck a chance and you will not be disappointed.
