I am only twelve and in love with classical music I pray that one day I might have half as much talent and creativity they posses

I like the Goode recording but not the Argerich (Goode's Bach is much better then hers) but this gives a different yet valid take. It takes some time getting used to but over time you might end up liking it over other time honored recordings. My only complaint is that she seems too rushed in spots but it is by no means joyless, stogy or what have you. Her tone shimmers and playing is secure. It may not be Glenn Gould but it's a fetching enough reading to go up agains his famous records or even Hewitts much lauded albums. No regrets here.

I first heard an excerpt from this CD on David Dubal's radio program "Reflections from the Keyboard". The excerpt played was the Capriccio from the Partita No. 2. He compared this recording to those of several other pianists. It was very clear that this was, in all ways, the superior recording: every line is brought out and seperately discernable, and the dance aspect of the piece is conveyed with a bouncing, catchy rhythm. This is beautiful Bach piano-playing.

I first read Komponist's rather scathing review, then listened to the music, and found it hard to imagine we had been listening to the same recording. No joy? No poetry? Stodgy? Struggling? I can't imagine what axe Komponist has to grind, but to my ears it bears little relation to the merits of this recording. Ms. McDermott's Bach is soulful, poetic, joyful, and technically excellent, and it would be a shame if potential listeners were put off by one inexplicably harsh review.
