This score is my most played album in iTunes. Some of the songs have more than seven hundred plays, notable Swimming & Horses, Arrival at the Slabs, Carte Noir, Devil Slayer, and Where Are They Now?. Michael Brook has crafted one of the most beautifully assuming scores that fits right into the little cracks of the movie, yet are so emotionally satisfying they can stand alone. Obviously, Eddie Vedder's soundtrack to the movie is also superb. Into the Wild is supreme.
  • It gets to you!!

This movie gets to you and the music aids it to the process. One song that I found people to neglect was "Where Are They Now" which I thought was one of the most intense songs from the soundtrack. The violin and melancholiness to it just chokes you up. Just hearing it you know that it's a sad you can just hear it. Bravo

Not only did the movie capture my heart but the soundtrack and movie score. The album is like a story, and its magical, captivating and inspiring, as well as heartbreakingly sad. The movie was awesome and Emile Hirsch rocked Chris McCandless' character. Eddie Vedder contributed beautiful songs and lyrics to his album. The score can't be beat, however. "Best Unsaid", Salvation Mountain", and my ultimate favorite " Swimming and Horses", are must buys. Listening to the violin and the piano in "Swimming and Horses"; blows my mind. I love closing your eyes and dreaming about the story and Chris' life story match perfectly to the music. Even "Chris Dying" and "Final Heartbeats" are beautiful. I am so overjoyed and amazed by the whole production's performances. I give my condolences to Chris' family and give an applaud to INTO THE WILD!!! (if not recognized, my opinion is this is a must buy!)
  • Why the exclusions....

Its not the fault of itunes, buts its something I have to bring up.......this cd contains "Chris dying" and "Final heartbeats"...but how about the music that follows his final breath? . Ya gotta wonder about production execs who exclude the most powerful moments of a motion picture soundtrack from the released version soundtrack. Unbelievable.

Eddie Vedder may have been the one that won all the awards for his original soundtrack, which was indeed very good, but I mean no disrespect when I say that his album does not even compare to this one in my opinion. Best Unsaid has become one of my favorite songs as of late. And so much heart and soul went into songs like Swimming & Horses, Devil Slayer, and Free Satellite & Hunting Advice that you can't help but love them. This album perfectly augmented the film in which it debuted.
