Cactus was an amazing band. Loud and raunchy. Carmine stoled the show beating cymbals until they broke, just like with Rod and Beck and everyone who has been blessed to workwith him. The review downplays Carmine, who is a true rock legend and still going.

I saw Cactus when they played this album at the university if Alabama in 1970 after several student protest during the Vietnam War What a great band and what a golden time!! One if my favorite albums next to Spirit's Dr Sardonicus

What a great album this is. The bass and drums are so tight, the guitar is amazingly twangy and full of gust and the vocals exemplify the classic hard rock vocals. Truly a hidden hem. Good thing I decided to check this band out.

It was 40 years ago when I first got schooled on Cactus. I have yet to hear anything in that time that can touch this for sheer intensity.Never has their been another work like Parchman Farm for blazing intensity. The rhythm section of Bogert and Appice is incredible. (Timmy could take about any bass player to school on Oleo.) But catch Song for Aires on their second effort which displays their versitility. Rusty called it "sonic rock". What a shame on his premature and untimely passing. Thanks itunes for keeping the spirit of Cactus alive!

Great album. I've been looking for this album for a whole. Could not find it. iTunes had it and man did this album rock. Old memories rekindled. As good as led zeppelin.

This album was great the day it was released, and it's still among the best ever released. From the opening "Parchman Farm", which literally pounds you into submission, to the closing notes of "Feels So Good", there isn't a restful moment on this album. Led Zep has always been one of my favorite bands, but on this recording, Cactus took Zep to school. No ifs. No ands. No buts. Buy it and crank it up. On the original LP it stated on the back of the cover in small print (the only thing small about this album!), "This album is intended to be played loud." Do it!

This band was one of the heaviest post Woodstock/ non Metal bands. Jim McCarty was reportedly Jimis favorite guitar player. Carmine was Bonhams favorite rock drummer. Rusty Days voice was totally original and edgy. Back in 1971 when I heard Parchman Farm for the first time I couldn't believe how heavy it was Viva Cactus
  • Gorgeously Thorny! If you spell it "Terriable" ...

I'm glad to read most love this release. As a bassist, Tim Bogert was the Jaco of Rock! Subtle and mind crushing at the same time. Like they screamed on RESTRICTIONS - 19711111111111! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That's how we felt back then. Pre-Punk frustration! Ignore those who think this is boring. They don't get it, they weren't there. And obviously, they can't spell.

I came across this album in my genius after a quick preview I purchased it imediatly and really enjoy it. It brings back some of the great 70's rock that most of todays's music just can't stand up to.I'm a big blues fan so this is right on!
