When looking at all of STS9's work, access to their epic live work and recordings makes their studio work seem diminished. But looking back at this album, you can see the creative genius that the Tribe had, and see how it's evolved over the years. This is almost a stand-alone concept album for them, like Artifact was later. It largely defines how their live music sounded at the time (2002), while they were hanging around Santa Cruz a lot putting on chill improv shows; yet it also lays the groundwork for the more wild, epic, glorious, energetic sound they came to be known for live in recent years. In short, this album is one of STS9's best studio works, and it is also a look at how much they've evolved.

sound tribe is one of a kind. genius musicians all teaming up to create music that no one else can compose. seasons 01 is a great album and if itunes were to allow you to buy each song individually i would recommend buying "a gift for gaia" "jebez" "satori" and "good for everyday".

Probably the best sounding live band around right now, If you hear this or anything from Artifact , they are creating this stuff on the fly with a mixture of a full band playing drums bass, keyboards, guitars, and a purcussionist and they are triggering the freshest samples using nice looking laptops loaded with hot brand new programs like Abelton Live. They weave the sampling right into their grooves onstage its rediculous. So tight.
