It's so sad how hardly anyone knows about this band! They are amazing!! I love Eowyn!

I reciently bought this CD, and this is what I thought of it: 1. Crashing 10/10 - This is, in my opinion, one of the best songs on this album. It is well structured and deeply emotional, almost sounding like a well structured emotional outburst. I love how it begins fairly subdued but than slowly builds up until you are litterally pushed into the insanity of the chorus with the raging guitars and vocals. The message is really good too. 2. Life 9/10 - This track contains some of the best guitars on this album! Some of the bass guitars remind me of something you would hear on a Red CD. However, with the continuos guitars and the more subdued chorus, this song doesn't express emotion like "Crashing" does; it never quite reaches that vocal and instrumental ceiling that the previous track does. It's still a good song though. 3. To My Surprise 8/10 - This song is another stand-out track. It also contains some good build-ups and a well defined chorus. The only thing that could be wrong with this track is the breathy vocals. These, however, do add emotion to the song. Really good lyrics too! "To my surprise, You heard my cry/ Lord Jesus rescue me!" 4. Silent Screams 8/10 - I like the haunting sound in this track and the message too. My favorite part is when Pillar's lead singer jumps in at the bridge. Good vocal combination. The only problem I have with this song is the fact that its chorus doesn't contrast the verses as well as some of the other songs. 5. Runaway 8/10 - "Runaway, not today/ I'll face my fears and take a chance/ like a parasite on hope." I love the lyrics to this song! The sound isn't quite as distinct as some of the other ones, but I love the fast pace. 6. Unfinished Memories 10/10 - Truely touching. This song has encouraged me during a hard time in my life, and the lyrice never cease to amaze me. Again, I love the emotion put into this song. Enough said. Buy this one! 7. Hands of Time 5/10 - I have mixed feelings about this song. I admire the fact that she is willing to experiment with a different style in this song, and I like the tune and the vocals. However, I think that this song could have held out a lot better is she had used guitars instead of a techno beat in the background. Also, the transition between the first verse and the chorus isn't smooth at all. Still, it was a good try on her part. 8. Significant 7/10 - This song isn't really a "stand-out" track, but it does have a very good sound. I like the complexity of the tune. 9. Saving Grace 9/10 - Beautiful. The vocals are smooth and the chorus is very powerful. Another one of my favorites. 10. Goodbye 7/10 - This song ends the albumk well. I like the smooth riffs in the chorus. This album doesn't quite compare to Some of the other releases of the past few years, but it still surprises me that Eowyn isn't more popular. This CD is pretty well put together, and has many characteristics of Goth Rock. However, the main difference between Eowyn and Evanescence is the fact that Eowyn has a solid Christian message. Even though she mentons struggles and deep hurts, she doesn't dwell on them. Instead, she points her fans to Jesus, the true healer of all wounds.

Do you like Evanescence? Well, this is heavier. How about Flyleaf? This is heavier still. How about Lacuna Coil? This is heavier still. Yep, she rocks. Hard. Just take a listen to this album's opener, Crashing. Very heavy guitars mixed in with some electronics and processing and some deep, passionate vocals, it never stops nor let up with heaviness. If heavy is not your forte, check out To My Surprise or Unfinished Memories. Both have beautiful piano and vocal melodies that ooze out feeling, which a lot of bands today lack. My only beef is the track Runaway. For me, the change in time signatures detracts from the vocals. It seemed out of place.

This album will move you wether your christian or not. Just sit and listen to her lyrics and you'll see the beauty of them. I would say Eowyn is better than Flyleaf beacuse she actually makes you feel her songs them move you. She is definetly better than Amy Lee mostly because she can actually sing live (go to her myspace she has live videos of silent screams you will not be disapponted). As far as the songs are I give 5 out of 5 to all but Unfinshed Memories simply because, instramentlly, it could of been beefed up just a bit more it's still a good song so buy it anyway.
  • She Needs Vocal Lessons

Okay, I love the CD and everything, but I just don't really care for her voice. Listen to To My Surprise. When there is one minute, twenty-seven seconds left in the song, listen to that note she hits. It's kind of awful. She could be better, but I love the music. The music is great, not necessarily her voice. Sorry, Eowyn. Keep up the good work, though.

Eowyn vocally sounds alot like Flyleaf. However unlike Flyleaf her lyrics aren't vague at all. Here is a Christian artist who sings about very directlly Christian material in a style that could appeal to any fan of somewhat emo heavy rock. "To My Surprise" is my personal favorite. A good artist who deserves more recognition.

She has a very pretty voice, but she also needs to work on some things; for example, she's very breathy...almost annoyingly so in "To My Surprise." Great message. The chords fit the lyrics in almost all situations. Good, strong drum patterns. All in all, the potential to be an incredible band. Another thing, she doesn't sound too much like Amy Lee...more like the girl from Fireflight. Amy has a bit more control over her voice, plus her voice is a good bit darker than Eowyn's. The album is good, though...definitely worth it.

I love this. It's like Evanescence meets Within Temptation meets Barlowgirl. Great album, a good mix of heavier rock with a good message.
  • DEEPly AMAZING.
