Is it really that hard for Pollard to write even ONE killer tune that stays with folks? Apparently so.

This album is very impressive. I have friends who simply don't care For G.B.V. well they like these songs. Full blown pop songs, not snippets but songs. I love all of bob's work, These songs are a more accessible place for the unfamiliar. Great album
  • A Return to Form

Compared to "Superman Was A Rocker," Bob Pollard's new album is a godsend. Unlike his previous albums, both with GBV and apart from them, he gives his songs a chance to stretch out, with only one song under two minutes and several more over three. This new expanded form allows songs like "No One But I," "Gratification to Concrete" and "To the Path!" to realize their full potential as high-quality nuggets of modern pop, and not merely as simple sketches. The combination of "Isolation Drills" style rock with "Silverfish Trivia"-esque melodies help to create Pollard's best solo effort to date.

I like a decent amount of Bob's new stuff but to shed light on another poster, he definitely should do some team up albums, namely with Toby and Doug. said it.

I was surprised to see the negative reviews here. This grows more familiar with each play. In fact this is the album you'll want to play on that windows down, sunroof open, speakers loud, summer drive you can't afford to take. A nice collection of pop songs here.

10 songs, 35 minutes. it goes by too fast! but,at 35 minutes, you can just start it over again. This is a great album. Check out Gratification to Concrete, Weatherman and Skin Goddess and the big three finish of To the Path, Western Centipede, and Wealth and Hell Being. Its the album he's threatened to make for years, a tight concise rock album. I dig it.
  • Please stop Bob.

From one of your greatest fans and former Southern Ohio resident I ask you to either get back together with Tobin or keep the new tunes to soundtracks. Its just not working anymore. The spark seems to be missing and with each new solo release I fall deeper and deeper into my longing for the great pop licks you once wrote so effortlessly.

A fan with any interest in Guided By Voices or Robert Pollard should hear this album. Another great set of songs from Uncle Bob. My favorite is "The Blondes" but every song is worth hearing. Give it a listen!

What else but another near perfect rock record. Check out Gratifaction to Concrete, Weatherman and Skin Goddess, 1 Years Old and Western Centipede for further proof that at 50, Pollard brings the rock better and more consistantly than anyone in the game. Like most Pollard records this one is a grower and deserves repeated listens straight through before you choose your favorite.....it changes with every spin. No One But I and To The Path are eveidence of that....they sneek up on ya. Disarm The Settlers
