I saw Jesse on his first tour returning from Canada playing as an opening act for Jimmy Buffet in 1977 or so. He was supporting "Nothing But a Breeze," and it was an event. All one has to do is listen to "Bowling Green" to imagine how much he must of wanted to return to the US (particularly the South) while living in Canada to avoid the draft. I haven't heard "Breeze" for more than 30 years -- since that concert in Tuscaloosa, Alabama -- and it is a meaningful and poignant today as it was all those years ago.

I've been waiting for I-Tunes to release this album for a long time. Jesse Winchester's talent as a great writer are much more evident when his marginal voice is accompained by superb background vocals and muscians. This album provides just that and I'm glad to finally have it on my I-Pod.
