Not every album has to be perfect - some albums you like because they are imperfect. The Sugarcubes could have chosen only the best tracks from this LP (Regina, Water, Planet, Pump) and had a 5-star EP. [If you are a very serious person, I'd suggest only getting those 4 tracks, which are all great.] But the Sugarcubes included a variety of material, and some of it is really silly (Dream TV, Dear Plastic, Eat the Menu). Some songs are fun and energetic (Bee, Shoot Him, Day Called Zero), and some of these tracks you might not like, and may even hate. That's all OK by me, for a few reasons: 1) The production and sound quality of this album are amazing - just download one track and listen, it sounds way ahead of 1989 2) In my opinion, these are Bjork's best vocals aside from her Gling Glo album 3) The musicianship is A+, the guitar-bass-drum sound is superb, you can hear the quality in any of the samples here. Yes, we were all disappointed by this release back in the day ... the band that had the potential to be the next Talking Heads really only wanted to be the next B-52's. But whatever, is that really such a bad thing?

this album was awesome. different from their last, just like a real band's LP should be. great bass lines and fluid guitar work. the keys/synth are perfect. Bjork is difinitely on top of her game on this album. she does a really great job on the melodies and has almost flawless vocal execution. the lyrics are sorta scattered and really dont stand out or make you think the way their 1st LP did. but the lryics are very fun and work great with the songs. einor orn is, in my opinion, annoying, but he's totally necessary. this band brought dynamics in this album i've never heard before besides U2's older music. their vocal melodies and guitar and bass line styles that this band does aren't used again til the early to mid 2000's. they were ahead of their time. great album.

More polished, more whimsy, more Einar Orn -- I don't think it's a slip at all, but it is different.
