  • Jeff Peterson - best thing about Hawaii!

I recently spent two wonderful weeks in Hawaii, and the best thing I discovered the whole time was Jeff Peterson. His music not only takes me back to Hawaii every time I play it, but it is just plain the most wonderfully relaxing music I have (out of over 4,000 tunes). The addition of Riley Lee is nothing short of spectacular--they go together like honey and tea. This album, and Haiku--which they also do together, is just plain A+++++

Haleakala (House of the Sun") is a sacred Hawaiian place on Maui. A dormant volcano that over looks the Islands. It's a tourist destination & treasured symbol with spectacular views & history. Jeff Peterson grew up on the slopes of Haleakala. He lived a Paniolo (CowBoy) life with his family on a ranch. Recently he won a Grammy / the first ever for a Hawaiian CD (a compilation called; "Slack Key Guitar, Vol 2). Riley Lee is a transplant who got around a bit, before settling in Kauai. He became the first non-Japanese Shakuhachi dai shihan (Grand Master). His flute combined with Jeff's slack key guitar maked this a perfect CD of Hawaiian standards. It''' relax you while lifting you high above your day to day worries. Every song soars gently throughout the the skies above. Imagine the palm trees dancing in the sunny blue skies while the gentle waves carress the sandy beaches below. Plush green mountains rising in the background... Breathe in the fresh scents of the tropics. Ahhhh Paradise.... If you can't be in Hawaii, this is the next best thing. Aloha.
