This album is cute, with all it's pop sounds and lame odes to high school. But seriously, I expected more. Santi was a very solid alternative album, and then we get this. I guess the boys really wanted to solidify a spot on MTV or VH1 with this one. Kudos to the band for getting another album out within a year and a half, but maybe they should have taken a little extra time on this one.

I like this album, but it does not come close to the greatness of their first album. The songs are catchy, but lack the substance that the first and second albums had.
  • Purty good.

this is a great pop album, but it's a bit generic. Here's the recipe: 2 cups of mainstream pop, a cup and a half of generic pop-punk, one cup of The Academy Is...'s amazing sound, and half a cup of CRAP. What really bugs me is that listeners also bought really generic barf-ful bands like Hit The Lights, The Cab, and The Friday Night Boys. :[ yucky. Song-by-song About A Girl- I used to be obsessed with this song, but I listen to it now and realize it's kinda crappy. Summer Hair= Forver Young- One of the best songs, I hated it the first time I listened to it, but after about three or four listens it get awesome! I love it. His Girl Friday- One of the most generic songs on the album. It's amazing acoustic, though, they need the acoustic version on iTunes! Anyways, it's a song we've all heard before. Skip it if you only buy a few songs on the album. The Test- Another really good song, on par with Summer Hair, if not better. It's a big punch when they get into the chorus, which I really like, and has some of the best lyrics on the album Rumored Nights- Pretty good. A bit corny, sure, but I like it. Don't love it though. Automatic Eyes- A very smooth song, it's nice but a bit boring. Crowded Room- A fun song! One of the better ones here. Coppertone- Best song on this album. Takes a listen or two to get into but then it's super amazing! Frikkin sweet guitar & drums! After the Last Midtown Show- Kinda meeeeh and slow, and the theme is a bit shoved down the listener's throat. Beware! Cougar! - A nice song, kinda makes you feel loose, and cool. The whole thing flows quite well but is not boring. Paper Chase- A good graduation song, but again, it's really really corny. I'll blast this song when I graduate middle school in about 2 weeks haha. I'll feel really dorky though. One More Weekend- Very catchy, and deep meaning. Okay, not very deep, but deep for THIS album. Really really singable too :) Best songs on this album: Summer Hair = Forever Young The Test Rumored Nights Coppertone Beware! Cougar! One More Weekend and maybe About A Girl. It's one of those songs that only appeals to some people. Don't get me wrong, though, this is SO incredibly worth your money. But, as another reviewer said, if you are just getting into TAI, check out Santi and Almost Here. <3 bye. From SIsky's future wife.

This was my first TAI album, and for a while, my favorite. But I must say, in comparison to their previous work (Almost Here, Santi), Fast Times at Barrington High has quite a different sound. It's much more mainstream pop rock, but I do believe that was the band's goal. William Beckett wrote an album about his high school experiences. Obviously it's not going to be very "mature" or dark, because he wasn't back then. It tells a few good stories, and now that the album's finished TAI can return to their much favored alternative-emo sound.

So I'd been holding out on writing a review for this. I have always been TAI fan. Almost Here was incredible. Flawless I might even say. And Santi wasn't excellent, but it wasn't bad and I liked the unique sound that TAI was developing. But then this. This album fits into the cookie cutter mold that you can put almost any other pop punk band into. It's so generic and forgettable. All the uniqueness of the band is gone, this album is a complete sell out. I still hold hope for TAI's future, but I hope that this isn't it. The only reason I didn't give it one star is because of what the band use to be and hopefully will return to.
  • An album that won't disappoint
