With Big D here in AZ a while back. Great show, great tunes, and great energy. I asked which album was their fave and they told me this one. Sorry guys, but i've been thoroughly disappointed.

Without trying to sound like very other review on this album, let me get my two cents in... First off, I was not a fan of "Infectious." Not because I was looking for the next best ska album, but because the only songs I liked from that album were the three they released on their myspace. It had nothing to do with the style for the most part, as listeners saw the transition into this disco/funk sound with "Dance Like Nobody's Watching", which is an amazing album. I would also like to add, Rump Shaker was pure musical gold. So I'm coming from the viewpoint of most SL fans. And in regards to style, don't forget that Reel Big Fish initially started as a metal band, so maybe the Legends are on to something... Now "Let's be Friends..." is definitely not as pop-synth driven as "Infectious", which is fine with me, and the horns seem more present. Lyrics remain very tongue-in-cheek, but, they're Suburban Legends; can't we all accept that's what they do? Regardless, I love every track on this album, and I highly recommend this album in its entirety be added to your collection.
  • Hmm...not the best album but still an amazing band

This band was already thought of as more of a "poppy" ska band and to me this album sounds just like pop with some trumpets. Don't take this the wrong way though if you are a fan of pop type music you will definately enjoy this album. Also if you get the opportunity to see this band in concert do it, no matter what kind of music you are into. This is one of the most exciting bands to see in concert.
  • Not your usual Suburban Legends!

I'm a huge ska fan and have been for many years and i can honestly tell you this album is NOT ska. i loved their album Rump Shaker, for it's third wave feel. In fact that's the album that made me like this band. This album is a big change in musical direction from where they started and (as another reviewer said) they probably lost some fans over it but i actually like it. The difference in sound and technique shows that they are growing and experimenting as artist and that's a good thing. You can tell the comfort level of performing together is getting fined tuned to a point that seems really tight. Reminds me of Reel Big Fish's album "Why Do They Rock So Hard" where it sounded more rock than ska. Very different but still true to the band spirit. That album is now one of my favorites. If you're looking for ska music, look elsewhere but if you want catchy beats, singable lyrics or just love Suburban Legends as artist, definitely get this album!

rump shaker is quite possibly one of the most danceable ska albums EVER... and now suburban legends is slowly but surely sliding away from ska and into pop. not cool.

I have not been a SL fan for very long, I saw them in concert with Streetlight, RBF, and LTJ a few summers ago and from that day on I was addicted to them. I saw them 2 months ago, first time ive seen them since this cd came out. Simply Amazing. I thought this cd was just amazing as it was, but hearing the songs live from 5 feet away just made me love it even more. It may not be "ska" like most think but its a disco ska as I like to call them. If you like ska, its a must buy!

First off, for those of you hate the new album only because it's not as ska sounding as Rump Shaker, just leave right now, seriously. If you're not even going to attempt to listen to a new album with an open mind, don't waste your time doing so. You can't listen to every new SL album expecting it to have the same sound as Rump Shaker because I can guarantee you that you'll be disappointed every time. You can't judge a new album based on past work; it doesn't work like that. Anyway, Let's Be Friends is pretty good album. The band has taken a somewhat new direction with their sound and personally, I like it. Of course, I love the songs with the more ska sound (Let's Be Friends and Getting Down to Business) but songs like Polyester and Favorite Face are also enjoyable. I like the fact that the band has pulled away from their ska sound just a little and explored new styles; it makes the album a little more interesting. I would reccommend this album to any true Suburban Legends fan who supports not only their talent and abilities, but also supports the band no matter what style of music they choose to play.
