This album was my travel companion for a trip some years back and listening to it again is bittersweet nostalgia. Especially when my travel companion has gone to heaven.
  • Dido, not just for chicks who drink chardonnay

I've always had Dido's hits on my iPod but always a little shamefully as if indulging in sweet dessert. As a forty-something straight guy, I've been loath to admit that a "pop" singer so beloved of younger ladies might be a seriously talented musician. Well, she is, if this album is any indication. The songs are perfectly crafted, melody, the lyrics.. I dare say Beatlesque in certain high moments.. These are songs for grown ups who've loved and lived.

I'm not a huge dido fan but I even admit her first two albums were ok if a little depressing in content. This album takes it to a whole other level. My mum used to play this on the sunniest of days and it would depress me. This album is hardly music, every song is the same quiet, woe-is-me, my life is a dead end street- garbage. The production is hardly breathtaking either- over produced flat drum synths that a 4-year old could improve on. This album is love or hate. A few people love it, but a lot of people don't. Don't buy this album if you understand that a positive headspace is key in feeling good about life and this album will most likely pull you out of it.
  • Amazing Voice

She's got such a great voice, but it seems she's not properly using it. She can do allot more than this, but she is stuck in the same, old, and depressive state. I am very surprised, by the fact she hasn't committed suicide. she needs to write something happy, lighten the mood, and become the star that i know she can become, she is a star but she is one star standing among many. She can become more and should not settle.

It is different from her past albums, however after a few listens most of the tracks are now some of my favorites.

I don't know what people here are saying. This is the best album I've bought in a very long time. Every song is worth something, and the whole album is refreshing to hear. No, it's not like her other albums,it's better. If you love the old Dido, you'll love this one more. The songs are lyrically down to earth and real, and anyone as experienced as Dido can relate to these life situations. That's what makes this album so deep. Do yourself a favor and give it a try because it's one that you'll be listening to for a long time to come.

I'm a huge Dido fan and would rate her first two albums among my absolute all-time favorites, however this album just doesn't compare. There is a definite emotional gap on this one... the angst, desperation, revenge, loneliness, passion etc. that rang so true on the first two albums is simply not there this time around. Neither are the fantastic ambient sounds that were so ever-present on "Life for Rent." Perhaps she needs some personal turmoil to spur her anger, lust, and such to generate another amazing album? Looking forward to moving onwards from this one...

I was expecting to be blown away at first listen when I bought this album - I didn't like it at first! But, it grew on me - like all Dido songs have in the past. I fell in love with literally every single song after a few rotations of my stereo. I can't stop listening to it, and I include at least one song from this record on every mix I make. It's an album that has permanent staying power, not just a passing fad. I love Dido and I love this record! salute!
  • I just wanna thank you.

Artists grow and Dido has. It's defiantly not like the first two albums here. It has it's own flavor. An acquired taste. All I can say is that I want another album. She is a true artist who's art I can never get enough of. Thank you Dido. Can't wait till your next.
