I like the song. I've always liked pat green. Honestly I'm surprised this song has lower reviews than his drinking days single, but that's just me.

Even though there are a couple decent, and by that I mean tolerable, songs on this album, this sounds nothing like the good Texas country music Pat Green used to make! Garbage to my ears!

The "new" Carry On? Seriously? I, among MANY other loyal Pat Green fans, have watched the fiery crash and burn of what USED to be a hometown hero, shining beacon, and influence for the entire Texas country music scene. I recall him saying "I believe this is the best song I have ever written, and I am proud to play it here for ya'll tonight" at Billy Bob's in Ft Worth about "Nightmare." What happened to your Texas influence? George's Bar, #2, Songs about Texas, we miss all of that. Now you are stuck in Nashville, wishing you could go to George's to drink you beer. I hope Nashville is treating you better than you have treated you TRUE fans, the great state of Texas, and Texas Country. Otherwise you wouldnt be trying to re-release Carry On. "Why don't you sing me one more song about ole San Antone, seem like a dream now, so long ago." And it is big guy. A LONG LOST DREAM. "Wish I was stowed away on a fast moving train goin home"; home to Nashville now huh? You have forgotten your roots. It saddens and upsets me, and all of your other true, old fans. Enjoy the bright lights and money in Nashville, your soul is sold to the devil. Keep your tight jeans. Throw away your old pair of Wranglers and your acoustic guitar, because you don't need them anymore. You are no longer a threadbare gypsy soul. Unfortunately, your obvious renouncement of your Texas heritage and roots is un-revokable. Sellout. Don't bother coming home, we don't want you.

Whew this is a tough crowd in the previous reviews. I gather that Pat use to be really great in the old days. My opinion is he's pretty F*@# Great now. One of my favorite artist. I go see him every December at Billy Bobs Texas and it gets better every year. If its not your cup of tea then move on. I read a review that said this is not country??? compared to what? Old country? Thats like comparing Nickle Back to Van Halen. Its all rock but it changes with time. Pat does what Pat does and I think Pat likes it , I know I do and so does every one else at his shows. If you don't like it don't buy it. There is a preview button you can use to check it out before you buy. I think it is just as good as Wave on Wave, Cannonball, and all the rest. Future buyers,,,,,click the preview button and judge for yourself.
  • What are you for? Nashville or Texas?

I'm from Kentucky and I agree with the Texans. Pat is one great singer, but he has stepped out of the genre that made him what he was. His style was so like that of Willie Nelson. He told stories we could all relate to. Road stories, love stories, family stories, friend stories. I used to ride my motorcycle out west and his music made me feel like I was flying across the land, through the canyons or up through the mountains. That is all gone. Did Nashville do it? I don't know, but if they did that means that it can be gotten back. I don't know if Pat reads any of this stuff, but if you do, please go back to the style you used to sing, lose the glitz and just be Pat Green the fantastic singer that you were and can be again. New song writers, old style. Do it for Texas and Miss Lilly.

Great Album, as usual. Anyone who says this album is bad is lying to you. There is no difference between old Pat Green and new Pat Green, its all good music. Your not wasting your money buyin this album or any of Pat's albums

The king of Texas country goes Nashville and ruins one of his best songs, the original carry on was perfect while this sounds like a Hannah Montana version. And country star? I'm speechless on that one, and not in a good way. The only reason there's two stars is because What I'm For.
  • Pat has evolved, and it's pretty good.

I started listening to Pat many years ago when he was just an old red-dirt player. Whereas he has left his roots of the front porch Red-Dirt Texas Country Music, he has not strayed away too far. This album is (in my opinion) a professional attempt (and a good one) for Pat to leave the State of Texas and reach out to a broader fan base. He is making more money, and I am proud of him. He deserves it. I am a little disappointed that he commercialized one of my personal favorites "Carry On" and gave it that all too familiar Hollywood/Nashville sound. There is a certain edge that all Red Dirt Music has and this album strays away from that, yet still has the integrity and perhaps even a little more power to the music and the meanings. All in all, if you want old Pat Green, listen to Lucky Ones and maybe even Wave on Wave, but if you are a country music fan and like Pat, you will not be disappointed by this album. His voice has a little more edge than on the old stuff and it is really starting to give him a more believable sound. (Not that it was "Un-believable" before.) This is turning into one of my favorite P.F.G. albums and I have to commend Pat on taking the step. Some people will not like it, but I do. Well done Pat!
