I remember when this came out. It was recorded at the House of Music in West Orange, NJ. Curt and Starr became strong members of the group, but Steve Arrington first appeared on the previous album, The Concept. doing vocals and percussion. Without getting long winded, this album truly has some "stellar" tracks of "fungk" as well. Mark Leslie Adams, aka Bass Dog, aka The Hansolor....u are MISSED!

  • ABOUT TIME!!!

I was about to purchase some more filler (iPoP) for the pod when I said to myself, "Let's give SLaVe another check." I truly believed that iTunes would never release TRUE FUNK although they did release the previous SLaVe albums and the weaker stuff (post Cotillion Label)...I hit the trifecta...Not only was this available, free of record hisses and pops, it' was at a bargain price. KUDOS iTunes. SO find some more FUNK. If you know SLaVe, this is truly the sonic breakthrough. The preceding albums led to this masterpiece. Thirty years later, it still rings perfect. There is an instrumental to the title track. You can find it on a greatest hits /compilation here on iTunes. Highly recommended. iTunes, it's about time...

I love this album. It is very hard to find. My mother used to play this album to death back in the day. I agree with the previous review that "Thank You" is probably the album's brightest gem, but "Foxy Lady" and "Roots" are also my favorites. So, "Thank You" for making this album available!!!
