...Deus Ex Machina. I heard it a couple years ago on the series finale of Friday Night Lights, and it remains just as powerful now as it did then. What an incredible song.

If These Trees Could Talk have that amazing balance of rawness and refinement that lend to such an expansive musical experience. I really couldn't ask for more out of a band.

Nothing will ever hold as much emotional value to me as Explosions, but this work is doing a mighty fine job.

This album is an incredible work of art. To me, it's more than just music. The songs on this album have the power to evoke certain thoughts and emotions that are rarely felt in music. Listening to this album is actually an experience; an experience one wouldn't expect to get out of average music. This is because If These Trees Could Talk really takes it beyond the actual songs, beyond the notes and progressions and textures, and focuses on the real emotions and feelings that are felt within the songs. The thing that sets ITTCT apart from the rest of the post-rock world is how they deal with energy in the songs, and how well the heavy parts are melded together with the softer parts. It's something that I haven't heard from very many other bands in this genre. The thing that many other post-rock bands lack is a sense of power within their songs. There isn't much energy to be felt, and that's because there aren't very many heavier parts. You could say that this is because ITTCT is more of a post-metal band, but something that sets them apart yet again from the post-metal world is how they are able to maintain a sense of ambience throughout the entire song, even when it comes to their more energetic heavy parts. It's like a wall of sound that hits you at first with aggression, but later reveals a softer side that is more reminiscent to the rest of the post-rock world. I'm not quite sure if any of this will make sense to very many other people, simply because this is my personal explanation of how I feel when I listen to this album. Not everyone will feel the same way, but regardless, this is an amazing album that is more than what you'd expect from a small post-rock band. I'd recommend it to anyone, regardless of your musical preference. Personally, I come from more of a hardcore punk background, yet this album still held something more for me, and it is simply an amazing work of art and musicianship.

This is amazing! Music for people with a brain that likes some intricacies. If you like this and want lyrics, try Brand New-The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me.
  • If These Trees Could Talk can talk, and they speak for themselves.

This band is amazing, truly great instrumental work by this inspiring band. Everyone's comparing them to explosions but they are much more intense and out there compared to the latter. I'd also check out other bands such as Russian Circles, Godspeed!, Long Distance Calling, and The Ascent of Everest... Take care and enjoy some post rock, Bear

I really enjoy this music definitely two thumbs up. ITTCT is in the Post-Rock Genre along with Explosions in the Sky, my favorite band as of now, and Chiaroscuro my other favorite.
