Duncan Sheik has proven once again that he is a master when it comes to writing sensationally melodic and beautiful songs. White Limousine is much more relaxed and less catchy than Daylight, so initially I was a little disappointed upon giving the album a first listen. For the most part, the songs are slower, highly orchestrated (which isn't too much of a change from his usual style), and filled with haunting/soothing vocals. Songs that are especially great include Nothing Fades, Land, Star-Field on Red Lines, and At Dawn's Request. Now I've come to love the album and appreciate it for it's "chill" feeling. If you want to hear an amazing album to which you can just "kick back" and relax, please purchase this one.

I just read the review above: "the listener will be struck by its aesthetic beauty before SHE can ever begin to take in the dark poetic..." blah, blah, blah. Newsflash: men might like the album, too. I did anyway. This album stands up well to other Sheik albums that I enjoy. Each has its own individual style, but share the common trait of Duncan's fine attention to sonic detail and musical craftsmanship. What I find most attractive about his music (other than the dark poetic blah, blah, blah) is that his music gets better the more its played-- my favorite songs are catchy the first time through, but their true genius reveals itself slowly with repetition. White Limousine is not an exception to this rule.
