I've followed Eldar from Live at the Blue Note to Re-imagination to this album and you can definately hear tons of growth in his playing. His ideas are more thoughtful and there's less of "fast for the sake of playing fast" moments. In my opinion he still cannot "pull sound" out of the piano like Brad Mehldau or Keith Jarret or Bill Evans. Still amazing pianist, amazing album!
  • Armando Gola on Bass...

Eldar is definitely a phenom, but Armando Gola is also amazing! The bass in "The Exorcist" and "Vanilla Sky" is brilliant.
  • Have this one on infinite repeat on my iPhone

Very rich, with jagged, dark edges. Have listened many times and am continuing to discover. I was predisposed to 'Insensitive' -- I'd heard him perform it live before the album came out, and it stuck with me for hours after the concert. What a gem. (Tho I just noticed the coda to Insensitive is kissing cousins to the coda of The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)".) This album is not going to be for everyone. I can say for myself that it's one of my favorites. Highly recommended, and catch him live if he comes to your area.
  • The next generation of jazz pianist has arrived!

This young man takes off from where the likes of Lyle Mays and Brad Mehldau left off. He has taken the music of the last generation of jazz pianists and gone a step forward. He is one of the few musicians who is actively contributing to the evolution of jazz without losing its roots. This album is filled with blazing bop, chordal complexities reminiscent of Lyle Mays' compositions and rhythmic intricacies to keep one entertained for hours.

This is a great record. Amazing wonderful compositions with lots of energy and concept. Great interplay between the trio. The rhythm section I should mention should have received better recognition early on in the description with bold letters, since they make up the band as well with Eldar. What an incredible pianist!
  • Amazing & unique

Eldar is genuine -- each song is a unique breath of brilliance. He has already made an international name for himself, but this CD carves out his own place in the evolution and perception of all that jazz can be.

Eldar will blow you away....and he doesn't even play a wind instrument. The power, the force, the virtue- this album has it all. From the ballads a la Estate to the rockin' fusion tunes a la Exposition and The Exorcist, this album is a MUST have for any MUSIC lover.
